Abstract

The delivery via cesarean section carries a high risk of infections, including surgical wound infections, uterine infections, and postpartum infections, which, if not properly managed, can contribute to maternal mortality rates. One effective way to mitigate the risk of such complications is through early mobilization. A lack of understanding among mothers regarding early mobilization may result in reluctance to engage in it, thereby impeding the wound healing process. This study aims to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and attitudes of mothers post-cesarean operation concerning early mobilization at Banggai Regional General Hospital. This research employs a correlational design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample was selected using a purposive sampling technique, comprising a total of 44 participants who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The statistical test utilized is the Spearman rank test. The study results indicate that 88.6% of post-cesarean mothers possess a good level of knowledge about early mobilization, and 93.2% demonstrate a positive attitude toward it. Data analysis reveals that there is a relationship between knowledge and maternal attitudes regarding early mobilization knowledge  (0.000 < α = 0.05). Based on this study, the higher the level of mothers' knowledge about early mobilization, the more positive their attitude toward engaging in it, with the aim of accelerating the wound healing process after delivery.

Abstract

Postpartum depression seems to be one of the prior causes of stress and anxiety for women worldwide during the current COVID-19 pandemic. This percentage is quite high in Asian countries, ranging from 26 to 85%, and 50 to 70% in Indonesia. This research aims to describe the prevalence of postpartum depression risk in postpartum mothers using EPDS in Bali Mandara Public Hospital, Bali Province. With a sample size of 75 postpartum mothers, the design of this descriptive study was the cross-sectional approach of seventh to tenth-day postpartum mothers from November to December 2022. The sampling technique involved consecutive sampling. The research instrument is the EPDS questionnaire. Approximately 41.3% of postpartum mothers who gave birth in Bali Mandara Public Hospital had a high risk of experiencing postpartum depression. The respondents are 16-20 years old, have an elementary education level, work as entrepreneurs, have middle to low economic status, and have multiparity. The majority of postpartum mothers are at high risk of experiencing postpartum depression, which is why early detection is critical and must be established as the new operational standard in perinatal health services.

Abstract

Pregnant women who have less nutritional intake adequately during pregnancy have the potential to experience chronic energy deficiency (CED) and tend to give birth to babies with low birth weight (LBW). One of the indicators used to determine chronic energy deficiency in mothers is upper arm circumference <23.5cm. The impact of LBW on children's growth is the occurrence of stunting. The purpose of this study was to determine the correlation between chronic energy deficiency and low birth weight babies at the Public Health Center Kambaniru, East Sumba. This study employed quantitative analysis with a cross-sectional approach. The sample was 29 respondents recruited from medical record data of pregnant women who gave birth to LBW babies. Data were analyzed using the Spearman's Rho correlation technique test. Findings indicated that the majority of 19 respondents (65.5%) with CED gave birth to children with LBW conditions, while 10 respondents (34.5%) without CED also gave birth to LBW babies. The Spearman's Rho test results indicated a significant positive correlation between mothers with CED and LBW babies. The lower the upper arm circumference of a pregnant woman, the higher the risk of giving birth to a LBW baby. It is expected that pregnant women will always carry out regular health checks during pregnancy and consume sufficient nutritious food.

Abstract

Pandemi Covid-19 mempengaruhi seluruh aspek kehidupan manusia.
