Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the influence of religiosity and public perception on interest in saving at sharia banks with a sample of respondents from the Rukun Warga 06 West Cilandak community. This study uses a quantitative approach. The results of the analysis show that the level of religiosity and public perception have a positive and significant influence on interest in saving. So these two variables are believed to increase interest in saving at sharia banks, therefore to increase the number of customers of a sharia bank it is necessary to increase outreach programs to the public so that their understanding and knowledge increases regarding the products and characteristics of sharia banks which are different from conventional banks.

Abstract

Islamic banking requires risk management with a better approach. So far, regulatory and supervisory approaches have been prioritized in managing and mitigating the risks faced. It is time for emphasis to be given to a cultural approach that further motivates banks to mature in risk management. This article aims to discuss the importance of risk culture aspects in managing risk management in Islamic banks. Case studies were conducted on two banks, namely Bank Muamalat Indonesia and Bank Mega Syariah. The analysis was carried out qualitatively using secondary data sourced from annual reports. The findings show that the concept of risk culture has been implemented in the two Islamic banks but needs to be further improved both in terms of conceptual aspects and also in terms of practice.

Abstract

Literacy, specifically reading, is a crucial skill for Islamic students (santri). Reading opens the door to knowledge. This article reports on literacy-boosting activities for students at the Al-Hidayah Quranic Islamic Boarding School to encourage their enthusiasm for reading. These activities include giving students reading assignments. They choose books they enjoy and have access to. Within a week, they complete their homework by reading and studying the book. At the next meeting, they are tasked with presenting what they have read and the benefits they can gain from the book's contents. The presentation is delivered orally without the aid of PowerPoint. Skills honed in this mentoring include the courage to speak freely, summarize the book's contents, extract wisdom, and the ability to persuade listeners. This activity is expected to not only improve the students' literacy skills but also shape their character, enabling them to convey information effectively and confidently. Thus, this activity plays a role in developing communication skills that will be useful for their future lives, both within the Islamic boarding school environment and in the wider community.Islamic boarding school students

Abstract

Liquidity issues have become crucial in the banking sector during the global economic recovery following the COVID-19 pandemic, presenting significant challenges that Islamic banks must proactively address. This article systematically examines the factors influencing liquidity risk in Islamic banks in Indonesia using the systemic literature review (SLR) methodology following the PRISMA procedure. A comprehensive search of the Google Scholar Database was conducted using three key keywords: "liquidity risk," "Islamic banks," and "Indonesia." After a rigorous screening and selection process, fifteen relevant articles were identified for in-depth analysis. The findings reveal that the key determinants of liquidity risk can be categorized into three groups: internal factors, intermediary factors, and external macroeconomic factors. A clear implication of these findings is that Islamic banks need to manage their liquidity risk more effectively by adopting a holistic strategy that simultaneously and more seriously addresses all three categories of factors. This integrative approach is crucial for managing the complexity of the post-pandemic financial landscape.

Abstract

Research into the energy sector from a risk management perspective is urgent, particularly in addressing the vulnerability of Indonesia's energy system to various risks. This research is expected to provide strategic solutions and policy recommendations to improve the resilience and reliability of the national energy sector. This article specifically aims to map research on risk management in the Indonesian energy sector through bibliometric analysis. A total of 34 selected articles that met the inclusion criteria were obtained through a systematic screening and search process in the Google Scholar Database. Overall, 84 keywords were used in the collection of articles, which were then further analyzed. Findings include, among others, the presence of many different individual researchers, indicating widespread interest but the lack of a stable research group. Second, temporally, an upward trend in the number of publications has been identified in recent years, indicating that this topic is increasingly relevant. In terms of publication type, articles are relatively evenly distributed across various journals, focusing on engineering, management, and policy. The results of the network mapping analysis using VOSviewer software based on keywords indicate that this research area remains very broad. These keywords are spread across 13 different thematic clusters, reflecting the many dimensions of risk management that remain to be explored. There is ample opportunity for researchers to conduct more in-depth exploration, and efforts are needed to determine a more precise and specific research focus to provide effective and applicable solutions to address the strategic challenges of Indonesia's energy sector resilience.

Abstract

The insurance industry holds a vital role in the Islamic financial system by supporting risk management and contributing to the stability of the financial sector. One of the fundamental components underpinning the legitimacy and operation of sharia-compliant insurance (takaful) in Indonesia is the issuance of fatwas by the National Sharia Council – Indonesian Ulema Council (DSN-MUI). This paper aims to analyze the urgency and significance of DSN-MUI fatwas as a foundation of fiqh muamalah (Islamic commercial jurisprudence) in fostering the growth and institutional development of the sharia insurance industry in Indonesia. Using a qualitative approach with a content analysis method, this study examines each fatwa in detail by contextualizing it within the current and historical development of the sharia insurance industry. The findings reveal that there are fourteen fatwas issued by the DSN-MUI that specifically address various aspects of sharia insurance. These fatwas can be categorized into three main domains. First, fatwas that address the conceptual and systemic framework of sharia insurance. Second, fatwas that discuss the contracts used in sharia insurance operations, such as akad tabarru’, wakalah, and mudharabah. Third, fatwas that govern the types and characteristics of specific sharia insurance products. These three domains form a comprehensive and cohesive legal foundation that supports the implementation, regulation, and innovation of the sharia insurance sector in Indonesia. Furthermore, these fatwas play a strategic role in legitimizing the industry, guiding stakeholders, and ensuring the alignment of insurance practices with Islamic legal and ethical principles.

Abstract

Sharia financing is a key instrument that Islamic banks must promote in channeling third-party funds. This aligns with the basic principles of Islamic banking, which emphasize fairness, partnership, and business sustainability. Therefore, it is crucial to examine how various Islamic financing schemes impact Islamic bank profitability. This study focuses on Bank Mega Syariah, using secondary data sourced from quarterly financial reports for the period 2017 to 2024. The financing variables analyzed include musyarakah, mudharabah, murabahah, and ijarah, while profitability is measured using relevant financial performance indicators. The analysis method used is a quantitative approach using regression techniques to examine the effect of each type of financing on bank profitability. The results show that musyarakah, mudharabah, and murabahah-based financing have a positive and significant impact on profitability, meaning that the higher the distribution of these three types of financing, the greater their contribution to increasing bank profits. These findings indicate that the business partnership model, profit-sharing system, and profit margin stipulated in the murabahah contract significantly contribute to maintaining profit growth. Conversely, ijarah financing did not significantly impact profitability. This may be due to the characteristics of ijarah, which tends to be oriented towards fixed assets or leases, resulting in a relatively limited contribution to increasing short-term profits. Overall, this study provides important implications for Islamic bank management to further optimize the proportion of musyarakah, mudharabah, and murabahah financing as a strategy to boost financial performance and maintain business continuity amidst the competitive Islamic banking industry.
