AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan prestasi belajar Ilmu Pengetahuan Sosial (IPS) melalui model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe snowball throwing pada siswa kelas III di SD Negeri Rejodadi Ngestiharjo Kasihan Bantul. Penelitian dilakukan di SD Negeri Rejodadi Ngestiharjo Kasihan Bantul pada tahun ajaran 2014/2015. (1) Prestasi rata-rata siswa pada pra siklus 69,50 dengan persentase ketuntasan 34,37% termasuk kriteria gagal. Setelah dilakukan tindakan pada siklus I prestasi rata-rata siswa meningkat menjadi 76,38 dengan persentase ketuntasan 62,50% termasuk kriteria cukup. Kemudian pada siklus II prestasi rata-rata siswa meningkat lagi menjadi 84,50 dengan persentase ketuntasan 84,37% termasuk kriteria baik sekali. (2) Aktivitas pembelajaran IPS pada siklus I yaitu 70% termasuk kriteria baik kemudian meningkat menjadi 90% termasuk kriteria baik sekali. (3) Aktivitas siswa pada siklus I yaitu 61,25% termasuk kriteria cukup meningkat menjadi 88,75% termasuk kriteria baik sekali pada siklus II. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe snowball throwing dapat meningkatkan prestasi belajar IPS siswa.Kata kunci : Prestasi Belajar IPS, Snowball Throwing. AbstractThis research purpose to increase the social subject achievement through Cooperative Learning Model Type of Snowball Throwing of III Class at Rejodadi Elementary School, Ngestiharjo, Kasihan, Bantul. This research was conducted at Rejodadi Elementary School, Ngestiharjo, Kasihan, Bantul in the Academic Year 2014/2015. (1) the average achievement of the students in pre cycle was 69,50 with complete percentage 34,37% including fail criteria. After doing the first cycle the students achievement average increased to be 76,38 with complete percentage 62,50% including middle criteria. (2) the social subject learning activities in the 1st cycle that is 70% including good criteria than increased to be 90% including very good criteria. (3) the students activities in the 1st cycle that is 61,25% including middle criteria increased to be 88,75% including very good criteria in the 2nd cycle.
