Abstract

The tourism sector, supported by the hospitality industry, plays a vital role in a country's economy. This study mainly explores the relationship between Human Resource Management (HRM) and innovation in service and whether the relationship is mediated by human capital. Questionnaires were chosen to collect data from several four-star and five-star hotels in Yogyakarta. The proposed hypotheses were then tested by the Structural Equation Model (SEM) using smartPLS, for which questionnaires were used to collect data from 209 respondents in Yogyakarta hotels. The research findings prove that Human Resource Management positively influences hospitality Service Innovation in Yogyakarta and human capital activities. The results of this study will help the hospitality sector foster creativity in services through human resource management practices and build proper use of human capital in their employees through cultures of innovation. Modern human resources should know that internal customer (employee) satisfaction leads to external customer satisfaction.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the extent to which hotels in Yogyakarta use modern technological devices for more profitable, effective and efficient hotel operations, and at the same time leading to smart tourism. The research was conducted between 2022. In this research, only 4 star hotels and 5 star hotels were selected in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. The population of 4 star and 5 star hotels is 46 hotels. Using the standard method for determining the number of samples, the number of samples for this research has been calculated as 14 hotels consisting of 7 5 star hotels and 7 4 star hotels. Sampling for questionnaire data was carried out on guests staying at these 14 hotels. Using the Raosoft method, the sample size for this research was 214 respondents. It is assumed, that the use of technology has a positive influence on hotel services, but only as a way to make better services provided by employees (assuming that they are trained and motivated to use it) and that technology cannot and should not replace the human factor. From the results obtained, almost all hotels studied all use the latest technological devices and there is a strong correlation between convenience and usefulness and satisfaction in using technological devices in hotels. The results of the smartPLS bootstrapping analysis state that the alternative hypothesis is accepted or rejects the null hypothesis, in other words it can be stated that there is a significant relationship both individually and jointly between the ease and usefulness of using modern technology in hotels and guest satisfaction in using modern technology in hotels.

Abstract

This study aims to examine whether organizational commitment mediates the effect of leadership style on subordinates' job performance. The research was conducted in hotels in Yogyakarta. This study is based on a quantitative descriptive approach using the partial least square-structural equation model (PLS-SEM) to test its hypothesis model. The model was tested with 187 respondents. The results show that organizational commitment mediates the effect of transformational leadership style on subordinates' performance in the hospitality industry. It was also found that transformational, transactional, and laissez-faire leadership styles significantly affect subordinates' performance. The implication is that hotel leaders should recognize appropriate actions and consider suitable leadership behaviours to enhance job performance, especially organizational commitment. Furthermore, organizational commitment also directly and significantly impacts job performance.

Abstract

Generasi Z kini mendominasi dunia kerja, termasuk di sektor perhotelan, sehingga gaya kepemimpinan yang tepat menjadi krusial. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis pengaruh gaya kepemimpinan terhadap kinerja karyawan Generasi Z dengan motivasi kerja sebagai mediasi. Data dikumpulkan dari 355 responden melalui kuesioner Likert dan dianalisis menggunakan SEM-PLS. Hasil menunjukkan seluruh gaya kepemimpinan (Authentic, Servant, Transformational, Transactional, dan Laissez-Faire) berpengaruh positif signifikan terhadap motivasi dan kinerja, dengan Servant Leadership paling dominan, diikuti Authentic dan Transformational, sementara Laissez-Faire juga memberi dampak positif melalui fleksibilitas. Temuan ini mengimplikasikan perlunya model kepemimpinan partisipatif, fleksibel, dan berorientasi pemberdayaan dalam manajemen SDM perhotelan.
