Abstract

Transformational leadership has attracted various attention as one of the appropriate leadership styles applied by school principals to improve religious values as proven from previous studies on the transformational leadership paradigm of school principals at the Senior High School (SMA) level. Therefore, further research on the application of these principles at the primary education level is essential. The current research aims to investigate the application of transformational leadership at the elementary school (SD) level to strengthen religious values. The research was carried out at SDN Banyuraden, Gamping, Sleman, Yogyakarta for two months, from October to December 2023, using a descriptive qualitative approach with two subjects consisting of the principal and Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teacher. The instruments used were interview transcripts and documentation instruments which were prepared based on leadership, transformational and religious value variables. Data analysis was carried out in three stages: 1) data reduction, 2) data presentation and 3) drawing conclusions. Based on the results found in this research, leadership practices at SDN Banyuraden show a strong commitment to implementing transformational leadership principles to build a school environment based on religious values. The Principal of SDN Banyuraden provides an example and conveys religious messages to students and school staff. The consistency and commitment shown by the principal is an important step towards the vision of a more religious school with a commitment to religious values. However, challenges in growing student morale and efforts to expand innovation in education remain the focus of improvement. In conclusion, this article highlights the importance of implementing transformational leadership in strengthening religious aspects in the educational environment. However, achieving optimal results will require significant effort and unwavering support from all individuals involved in the institution.

Abstract

This study explores the evolving role of Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) in the education sector, with a focus on their impact on infrastructure development and educational practices. The research aims to identify key trends in PPP-related education research from 2000 to 2023, shedding light on the shift from infrastructure-focused projects to more innovative approaches involving pedagogy, digital inclusion, and educational policy. Previous studies have primarily concentrated on infrastructure development and the financial implications of PPP, while the effects on educational quality and technology integration remain underexplored. This study employs bibliometric analysis using data from the Publish or Perish software to analyze academic articles, citation patterns, and key thematic trends within the field of PPP in education. Findings reveal a significant shift towards discussions on pedagogical innovation, digital inclusion, and the alignment of PPP projects with educational policy. The research emphasizes the growing role of PPP in transforming educational environments through strategic collaboration. These findings provide valuable insights into how future PPP can better support equitable and effective education systems, with implications for policymakers, educators, and stakeholders in education reform.

Abstract

This study develops a conceptual framework and thematic outline of Emotional Intelligence (EI) research in Islamic education using a bibliometric approach. Data were collected from Google Scholar through Publish or Perish (PoP) using the keywords “emotional intelligence” and “Islamic education” in titles, abstracts, and author keywords. The initial search identified 200 publications from 2010 to 2025. After screening for relevance, duplication, and metadata completeness, 150 publications were selected for analysis. Using VOSviewer, bibliometric techniques were applied to examine publishing trends, citation patterns, co-authorship networks, co-citation relationships, and keyword co-occurrence. The findings reveal a sustained global increase in scholarly interest in applying emotional intelligence within Islamic education. Emotional intelligence emerges as the central construct, closely linked to spiritual intelligence, multiple intelligences, and Islamic educational psychology. Visualization mapping indicates a shift from predominantly theoretical discourse toward more comprehensive and practice-oriented research, including instructional strategies, curriculum development, and institutional roles. The study highlights the originality of identifying a neglected triadic relationship among emotional intelligence, spiritual intelligence, and learning motivation. Although conceptually connected, empirical investigations of their combined influence remain limited. This research maps the scholarly landscape, identifies underexplored areas, and provides direction for future empirical studies integrating emotional and spiritual dimensions to enhance motivation, moral reasoning, and holistic student development in Islamic education.

Abstract

This research examines deep learning approach in the construction of teaching Hijrah of Prophet Muhammad SAW in an elementary Islamic school. This is the research objectives were to explore how reflective, contextual and experiential approaches in the teaching of Islamic religious education (IRE) can internalize moral and spiritual values in young children. This was basic qualitative research with interviews of teachers and students, observations in the classroom, and analysis of documents which was conducted at SDIT Jabal NUR Yogyakarta. The results indicated that deep learning induces emotional involvement in students, increases reflective ability and helps transform behavior through technology integration, storytelling and value activities. Role play, multimedia support and Canva-based reflection activities were used by teachers to facilitate the communication of students’ ideas. Nonetheless, issues such as the restriction of instructional time and lack of affective assessment models and training were revealed. The study finds that the use of deep learning in IRE provides meaningful learning experiences and fosters a cohesive approach to the development of Islamic character during primary education. It also suggests flexibility of the curriculum, reflection with faculty guidance and institutional support to enhance effectiveness of the model.
