This type of research is this research is classroom action research (PTK). The implementation of this research consisted of two cycles. each cycle through the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The method used is descriptive quantitative. The results of this study indicate that the average reading speed in the pre-cycle is 88 wpm with a total of 6 students who reach the very fast category. The results of students' reading speed after applying the skimming and scanning method in cycle I averaged 129 wpm with 16 students who achieved the very fast category, while in cycle II the average reading speed was 195 kpm with 27 students who achieved the very fast category. Thus it can be concluded that the skimming and scanning method can improve the effective reading skills of class VII students of SMP Negeri Panca Marga Kolimasang.

Abstract

strengthening the character of the Lewokluok indigenous community in East Flores. Sociosemiotic theory as a scalpel for the meaning and social function of carved motifs on beledan koke bale. The research uses a qualitative descriptive method to examine the symbolic meaning of beledan in the lives of the Lewokluok indigenous community. Data was collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and FGD with traditional leaders. The data was analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, which includes the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The study results show that there are 18 beledan on the koke bale, representing the identities of 16 indigenous tribes. Each beledan has carved motifs that contain symbolic meanings related to leadership and courage, struggle, fertility and love, religiosity, family ties, love, service, solidarity, as well as health and survival. Meanwhile, the social cohesion that is conveyed through the beledan koke bale plays a role in strengthening the character of the Lewokluok indigenous community in three main ways: (1) to be a symbol of collective identity that fosters a sense of togetherness, love for others, and respect for ancestral heritage; (2) strengthening social solidarity so as to form a character of mutual trust between ethnic groups, a tolerant attitude towards diversity; and (3) deepening spirituality that fosters a humble character, gratitude, inner peace, and empathy in community life.

Abstract

This study aims to formulate a strategic transformation model for sustainable education based on W. Edwards Deming’s principles of quality management. Twenty-first century education faces complex challenges arising from the Fourth Industrial Revolution, digital disruption, and social inequality, demanding a system that goes beyond academic orientation to emphasize sustainability, collaboration, and innovation. Using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach, this study analyzed 45 selected articles from international and national journals (2020–2025), which met inclusion criteria such as peer-reviewed status, relevance to Deming principles, TQM/PDCA, and sustainable education, as well as publication in indexed databases (Scopus, WoS, SINTA). The findings indicate that PDCA institutionalized through the PPEPP cycle in the Internal Quality Assurance System (SPMI) effectively enhances learning quality, participatory leadership, and reflective culture in both schools and universities. Cross-functional collaboration through PLCs/MGMPs, continuous innovation through kaizen, and future orientation through lifelong learning and digital literacy strengthen the implementation of  Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). Theoretically, this research integrates the Deming–ESD–CI paradigms into a single strategic model for sustainable education transformation; practically, it offers an operational roadmap for educational institutions and policymakers to develop quality systems that are collaborative, innovative, and adaptive to global change.
