Abstract

The purpose of thematic learning in this elementary school environment is to provide and have distinctive characteristics that distinguish it from alternative educational approaches. The age group of school-age children, usually ranging from 6 to 12 years, is commonly referred to as the school period, indicating the transition from kindergarten to formal school. This phase is recognized as the appropriate period to acquire knowledge, given the child's emerging drive for achievement, although mainly through engaging in fun activities. Called the maturity period for school, this stage reflects the child's desire to acquire new competencies, which are ready to be offered by educational institutions. This research method uses a qualitative descriptive approach. Primary school children exhibit different characteristics, including natural curiosity and interest in their environment, a preference for fun activities, a tendency to explore and engage in new experiences, susceptibility to emotional influences that drive their actions, an aversion to dissatisfaction and failure, a tendency to learn effectively in a conducive environment, and a preference for learning through active participation, observation, initiative taking, and peer teaching.

Abstract

Mathematics education faces significant challenges in preparing students for an increasingly complex and interconnected world. Traditional approaches are often limited to mastering basic concepts and skills without encouraging essential critical thinking abilities. Therefore, an innovative multidisciplinary approach is needed to improve the quality of mathematics education. This approach integrates concepts from various disciplines, such as science, technology, engineering, and the arts (STEAM), to create a more holistic and relevant learning experience. Students can see connections between concepts, understand real mathematical applications, and develop critical thinking skills through a multidisciplinary approach. This research explores the challenges faced in implementing a multidisciplinary approach in mathematics education and identifies effective innovations to overcome them. The research results show that despite obstacles such as lack of teacher training and resources, a multidisciplinary approach can build students' critical thinking skills, ultimately better preparing them to face future challenges.

Abstract

Some of the learning models implemented so far are still less effective, this is one of the reasons why students lack interest in learning mathematics and low student learning outcomes in mathematics learning. Therefore, this research aims to find and analyze the need for learning models on student mathematics learning outcomes. This research is a type of descriptive qualitative research, with the research subjects being class V students at SD Negeri 200307 Padangsidimpuan. Data collection in this research was carried out by observation and interviews. In this research, there are results that can be concluded that (1) teachers are less precise in choosing learning models (2) students are less involved in the learning process in class (3) students' courage in asking about difficulties in learning is still lacking so that learning is less effective (4) students still less proficient in social interaction (5) students in the learning process still experience difficulties in understanding mathematics learning. Therefore, it is very necessary to choose a learning model that is appropriate to the learning objectives and must be in accordance with student needs so that it makes it easier for students to understand the learning material. ABSTRAKBeberapa model pembelajaran yang diterapkan selama ini masih kurang efektif, hal tersebut menjadi salah satu yang menjadikan kurangnya minat siswa pada pembelajaran matematika dan rendahnya hasil belajara siswa dalam pembelajaran matematika. Oleh sebab itu penelitian ini memiliki tujuan untuk mencari dan menganlisis terkait kebutuhan model pembelajaran terhadap hasil belajar matematika pada siswa. Penelitian ini merupakan jenis penelitian kualitatif deskriptif, dengan sabjek penelitianya yaitu siswa kelas V di SD Negeri 200307 Padangsidimpuan. Pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini dilakukan dengan cara observasi dan wawancara. Dalam penelitian ini terdapat hasi yang dapat disimpulkan bahwa (1) guru kurang tepat dalam memilih model pembelajaran (2) siswa kurang terlibat dalam proses belajar dikelas (3) keberanian siswa dalam bertanya mengenai kesulitan dalam pembelajaran masih kurang sehingga pembelajaran kurang efektif (4) siswa masih kurang cakap dalam berinteraksi sosial (5) siswa dalam proses pembelajaran masih mengalami kesulitan dalam memahami pembelajaran matematika. Oleh karena itu sangat dibutuhkan pemilihan model pembelajaran yang sesuai dengan tujuan pembelajaran serta harus sesuai dengan kebutuhan siswa sehingga mempermudah siswa dalam memahami materi pembelajaran.
