Abstract

Introduction to the Old Testament 1 by William Sanford Lasor is one of the classic textbooks discussing the Old Testament in the Christian Bible. This book provides readers with a deep understanding of the historical, cultural, and theological context behind the Old Testament books. Lasor uses a strong academic approach in analyzing Old Testament texts. He investigates the historical and cultural contexts in which these texts appear, helping readers understand the messages they contain. Although the book examines ancient texts, Lasor also draws connections between Old Testament messages and contemporary life. This helps readers see how the messages are still relevant in a modern context.

Abstract

This research examines the issue of social injustice within the context of Indonesia's multicultural society through the perspective of Proverbs 31:8-9. The background of the study highlights that, despite Indonesia's rich diversity in ethnicity, religion, and culture, challenges of intolerance and discrimination persist, particularly against minority groups. The aim of this research is to identify various forms of social injustice faced by Indonesian society and to analyze the insights from Proverbs 31:8-9 in providing solutions to these issues. The research employs a qualitative descriptive methodology, utilizing literature reviews and textual analysis. The findings indicate that the role of leaders is crucial in defending the rights of marginalized groups. Proverbs 31:8-9 emphasizes the moral responsibility of leaders to "open their mouths" for social justice, which includes the protection of minority rights. This study contributes theologically to the formulation of inclusive and just policies and recommends a more holistic approach to addressing social injustice in Indonesia.
