Abstract

Background : WHO says 1 in 10 people worldwide falls ill and results in 420,000 and 33 million years of healthy life lost each year due to foodborne illness or food poisoning. The highest food poisoning pathogen in Indonesia is microbiology with 29 incidents. Microbial agents have been shown to cause outbreaks of food poisoning such as Escherichia Coli. The purpose of this study was to determine the personal hygiene against the presence of Escherichia Coli bacteria in food (study on street vendors in Tanggo Rajo culinary tourism).Methods : This study is a quantitative research with a descriptive design with a cross-sectional research design. The population in this study is street food vendors in Tanggo Rajo Culinary Tourism which amounted to 101 people.Results : The results showed that respondents who did not meet the requirements of personal hygiene as many as 37 (68.5%). The results of E. Coli microbiological tests, no E. Coli was found in all food samples examined..Conclusion : Most of the personal hygienic are largely unqualified and the presence of E. coli qualifies. It is recommended for all relevant sectors to be empowered, improve education, and monitor and evaluate.Keywords : Escherichia Coli, Personal Hygiene
