Abstract

As one of the beautiful works of art in Islamic culture, calligraphy also flourished in Indonesia. In addition to being a visual art form, calligraphy also embodies Islamic aesthetic and spiritual principles. The use of calligraphy in mosque decorations, Qur'an mushaf, and other religious objects adds to the majesty and beauty of the sacred writings. Furthermore, calligraphy is a significant component in Indonesian education. Lots of art schools and cultural centres offer calligraphy courses, giving the younger generation the opportunity to understand and inherit this art. The learning of calligraphy covers not just the functional elements, but also the cultural and spiritual values in each stroke of the letter. This research aims to explore the development, use, and impact of Arabic calligraphy in Indonesia, particularly in education. Qualitative research using a library research strategy is the methodology employed, through searching journal articles on the history of Arabic calligraphy in Indonesia.

Abstract

The art of calligraphy is the art of beautiful writing which is one of the characteristics of Islamic art. The art of calligraphy not only has aesthetic value, but also the value of worship and preaching. This research aims to examine the role and function of calligraphy art as a medium for Islamic da'wah and education in Indonesia. The research method used is a qualitative method with a descriptive analytical approach. Research data was obtained from literature studies. The research results show that the art of calligraphy has an important role in conveying Islamic messages, enriching the treasures of Islamic art and culture, and increasing the appreciation and creativity of Muslims. The function of calligraphy art as a medium for Islamic da'wah and education includes educative, informative, motivational, inspirational and transformative functions.

Abstract

Calligraphy is one of the Islamic arts that has received great attention from Muslims. Calligraphy as an Islamic art is the most important aspect of Islamic science, the Arabic Qur'an is an obligation to study Arabic grammar. One of the skills in Arabic grammar, namely Maharah Kitabah, calligraphy is to improve Arabic grammar according to the rules, both in terms of length, short in the number of latters to be stylish and beautiful. Modern Kudus Islamic Arts and Calligraphy Islamic Boarding School (PSKQ) provides a platform for studying the art of calligraphy in a systematic, effective and efficient manner. The intent and purpose of this research is to find out the learning system that exists in the modern PSKQ holy boarding school. From the results of the literature review, it was found that the art of calligraphy plays an important role in writing skills that can be expressed through writing and improve the grammar of the appropriate rules as beauty in writing. Methods of teaching the rules include tracing, imitating and modifying them using the Syauqi and Izzat styles.

Abstract

Islam is a religion with the majority of its followers that is spread throughout the world. Art has an important position in Islam because the religion teaches to appreciate the three values, namely knowledge, technology, and art. Calligraphy art reflects the beauty, grandeur, and greatness of Allah which holds a significant position in Islam. This research explain the importance of calligraphy art in Islam using data from relevant textbooks and scientific article. In the Islamic perspective, calligraphy art is considered very important and has high aesthetic, philosophical, and religious values. Calligraphy art is often used to teach Islamic values and is respected for its honor to the Arabic language and the Qur’an. Calligraphy art is an integral part of Islamic culture and is a very important from of visual art.

Abstract

The art of Islamic calligraphy developed along with the development of Islam brought by the Prophet Muhammad SAW. Until now, calligraphy has grown rapidly and become a popular work of art among the general public to various Islamic institutions. Especially in Islamic boarding schools in various regions, both traditional and modern. Researchers made the Wali Songo modern boarding school as an object of research. The purpose of conducting this research is so that researchers can find out the concept of calligraphy learning at the Wali Songo modern boarding school. Researchers used descriptive qualitative methods in conducting research, using a literature review approach to collect similar data, and conducting interviews with respondents who had a relationship with the Wali Songo modern boarding school. The results obtained from this research are that the Wali Songo modern boarding school uses modern media in the learning process such as blackboards, markers, blackboard rulers, notebooks, reference books, calligraphy special pens, and liquid ink. The students get special guidance from teachers who are competent in the field of calligraphy.
