Abstract

This research endeavors to evaluate the effectiveness of incorporating electronic learning (e-learning) with social reality videos into a mobile application to enhance students' cognitive learning outcomes. The study adopts an experimental design, specifically a pretest-posttest control group design, involving two distinct groups: the experimental group exposed to e-learning featuring social reality videos, and the control group engaged in traditional face-to-face learning utilizing the expository method. Each group comprised twenty-eight students, and both groups underwent pre-tests and post-tests with identical tasks. The primary focus of this investigation is the assessment of cognitive learning outcomes among students, representing the educational impact of induced learning within each treatment group. Analysis of students' learning outcomes includes descriptive methods (such as the average learning outcomes and n-gain) and statistical procedures, including hypothesis testing to determine differences in achievement between the treatment groups, conducted at a significance level of 0.05. In summary, the findings of this study reveal that the integration of e-learning with social reality videos significantly enhances students' learning outcomes, surpassing the effectiveness of the expository method. Consequently, the researchers recommend the simultaneous incorporation of this innovative approach into conventional classroom lectures.

Abstract

The influence of the mother tongue on second language acquisition has been widely studied, yet its specific impact on Indonesian learners of English remains underexplored. Grounded in the theoretical framework of language transfer and contrastive analysis, this study examines how the Indonesian language affects English pronunciation, grammar, and vocabulary acquisition. The research employed a qualitative approach, analyzing the linguistic patterns of Indonesian EFL learners through phonological, syntactic, and lexical perspectives. Findings indicate that phonological interference leads to sound substitution and syllable epenthesis, while syntactic transfer results in grammatical errors such as auxiliary omission and incorrect word order. Additionally, lexical interference causes misinterpretations due to false cognates and direct translations. These findings highlight the persistent influence of the mother tongue in shaping English proficiency. The study suggests that increasing exposure to authentic English input and employing explicit linguistic instruction can mitigate these challenges. Future research should explore intervention strategies and assess the long-term impact of language transfer. The study contributes to a deeper understanding of second language acquisition in multilingual contexts and offers pedagogical insights for EFL teachers in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study investigates the integration of Indigenous Knowledge (IK) into science education as a means to foster sustainable development among high school students. Through a qualitative descriptive approach, involving semi-structured interviews with 20 participants in Morocco, the research explores the impact of IK on enhancing students' understanding of local ecosystems, promoting interest in interdisciplinary studies, and contributing to cognitive and personal growth towards sustainable thinking. Findings indicate that incorporating IK into science curricula significantly enriches students' learning experiences by bridging the gap between traditional wisdom and scientific inquiry, thus making science education more relevant and engaging. This approach not only deepens students' appreciation for cultural diversity and environmental stewardship but also encourages a more holistic understanding of science and its application to global challenges such as climate change and biodiversity conservation. The study highlights the educational value of integrating IK in developing thinking and problem-solving skills, and a sense of global citizenship among students. It advocates for educational reforms that include IK as a vital component of science learning, suggesting that such integration can play a crucial role in achieving sustainable development goals by preparing students to engage thoughtfully with complex environmental and societal issues. This research contributes to the discourse on enhancing science education through the inclusion of diverse knowledge systems, offering insights into how such pedagogical innovations can support more sustainable and inclusive futures.
