Abstract

Background: Schools are reluctant to adapt physical education to virtual as it would be challenging to do physical education via virtual learning. Objectives: This study aimed to assess the contemporary efficacy of virtual physical education and its contribution to raising learners' interest and engagement levels. Methods: This study employed an exploratory research design. The content was compiled using various printed and electronic textbooks, encyclopedias, reference materials, scholarly publications, and dissertations. Subsequently, the author assessed the multiple sources to ascertain the data's caliber. Results: Conventional education is obsolete; thus, schools should adopt virtual physical education due to its positive outcomes in education regarding learners' performance by increasing learners' interest and engagement. Conclusion: A properly planned and well-implemented virtual physical education, well-trained and experienced educators, well-guided learners, proper infrastructure, and supporting resources result in learners being interested and engaged, thus leading virtual physical education to success. This study bridges the gap between virtual physical education and learners' interest and engagement, adding to the existing corpus of information concerning virtual physical education.

Abstract

Cross-cultural research on the influence of individuality and collectivism on employee engagement is lacking. This study aims to analyse the impact of employee financial rewards on employee engagement with a focus on individualistic and collectivistic cultures as moderating variables in a public sector organisation. This research employed standardised face-to-face open-ended interviews. The research instrument is made from one theme and five open-ended questions to address the objectives of this study. The constant comparative data analysis approach was employed in conjunction with content analysis. The researcher categorized the data based on their disparities as well as their similarities. This study found that the municipality offers its employees financial rewards; however, due to inequality, unfairness, favouritism, and political influence, employees are not rewarded fairly, leading to employees being unhappy and disengaged from their work and the organisation. The municipality does not practice either a collectivistic or individualistic culture. A poor imbalance between individualistic and collectivistic cultures reduces the impact of financial rewards on employee engagement. This study's findings emphasise that the effectiveness of financial rewards on employee engagement depends on the organisation's practices and the equilibrium of individualistic and collectivistic cultures.

The researcher utilized exploratory research in the study because the investigation tries to identify known/unknown factors and evaluate established hypotheses. Secondary information was collected using many online search tools and specialized journals, textbooks, articles in scientific journals, and online sources related to the topic. Establishing an efficient PMS is a difficult task for organizations. There are a variety of PMS tools that exist. The 360-feedback approach is the most suited appraisal method for executing the PMS for employees in an organization. PMS enhances employee performance employees' performance fairly since connections between performance reviews and improved productivity do not hold. Managers' engagement, senior management involvement, and performance feedback are key indicators of PMS's efficacy. The relevance of this research contributes to the current body of knowledge about performance management systems. Organizations would find this study's conclusions valuable and intriguing. Organizations will comprehend the influence of a successful PMS on employee and organizational performance and, as a result, devise effective countermeasures or capitalize on the advantages. This study will bring about novel knowledge of PMS and further provide future research leads. Because of its reliance on secondary sources, this investigation could only include published academic papers that existed when the study was done.

Abstract

Employee rewards are crucial for motivating and recognizing organizational contributions. However, organizations frequently overlook the elements (financial and non-financial rewards) that motivate employees. Most organizations lack tools and tactics to motivate employees, and the worst part is that a toxic work environment demotivates employees. This study aimed to investigate and understand how employee rewards affect motivation in a toxic environment as a moderating variable. Exploratory research was conducted for this review. Information was gathered from online publications, dissertations, online databases, and books relevant to the topic. Financial benefits are the most effective motivator for most employees; however, selected individuals are driven by intrinsic rewards. Money alone is not always sufficient to motivate employees. Regardless of these benefits, a hostile work environment motivates employees. To foster a healthy work environment, organizations must train managers and staff in professionalism, fairness, positivism, and workplace culture. Employees or managers acting toxically toward other staff members should be addressed immediately. This study emphasizes the value of reward systems in a nontoxic workplace. Organizations can promote greater job satisfaction, which in turn lowers absenteeism and increases employee motivation levels, ultimately boosting total economic production by eliminating the toxic aspects that may impair motivation.

Abstract

Basic education is for all in South Africa. The dawn of the democratic government in 1994 brought forth numerous curriculum changes throughout the basic education system to redress past differences. The changes saw the introduction of a subject like Technology designed to stimulate innovativeness and develop learners' creative and critical thinking skills. This study aimed to explore the role of the basic education system in promoting entrepreneurship skills, including teacher selection and evaluation, learning tools, classroom situations and support systems for the effectiveness of the system in producing learners with entrepreneurial skills. The constructivist worldview underpinned this qualitative study, using four schools within the Malelane Circuit in Mpumalanga Province. A case study explored the system's role in promoting entrepreneurship skills to learners. Senior phase technology teachers were selected for data collection, two grade 7 Technology teachers, four grade 8 Technology teachers, and four grade 9 Technology teachers. Primary data were collected through in-depth semi-structured interviews. Meanwhile, journals, books and policy documents were used for secondary data. A thematic data analysis technique was employed. The study revealed that entrepreneurship education promotes creativity and innovation needed to eradicate poverty and unemployment in our country. Furthermore, data show, among other things, that the basic education system is faced with challenges in teacher selection, resources, and infrastructure for an array of information. It is recommended that the basic education system invests in training Technology teachers properly towards content knowledge and recruitment of teachers qualified to teach the subject.
