Abstract

Sustainable tourism development is a widely applied concept in various regions, both in Indonesia and abroad. Ecotourism, in particular, is a form of tourism activity that ensures the implementation of sustainable tourism. The theme of ecotourism has been extensively researched in various countries. Ecotourism has become a significant research theme over the last two decades, yielding critical results on environmental and natural conditions.Purpose: This study aims to examine research in the field of ecotourism and sustainable tourism from 2018 to 2023.Research methods: Using Publish or Perish (PoP) software to gather data from the Google Scholar database, specifically focusing on journal articles with the keywords "ecotourism" AND "sustainable tourism." A total of 500 journal articles were collected and the data in the Research Information System (RIS) format. I then entered this data into the Mendeley References application and processed the tabulated data using Microsoft Excel. The data was further analyzed using VosViewer software to map research topics and interpret their relationships and relevance values.Results and discussions: The results of the analysis show that research with the theme of ecotourism has indeed been widely carried out and has a close relationship with similar research themes as following existing research clusters.Conclusion: Specific themes such as marine ecotourism, ecotourism management, local communities, ecotourism projects, sustainable development, relationships, and sustainable tourism are likely to be important research areas in the future. It's worth noting that the journal articles obtained from the Google Scholar database may include articles from both accredited and non-accredited journals. For future research, it would be beneficial to use more credible databases such as Web of Science or Scopus to ensure that the articles collected are widely reviewed and credible, as they are published in reputable journals

Abstract

AbstractCulinary tourism has become a common concept, which has now developed into gastronomic tourism. The meaning of gastronomy itself is not limited to food alone, but also includes cultural and historical elements of the place where the food originated. This study identifies gastronomic tourism by exploring the culinary heritage of the Islamic Mataram Kingdom in Yogyakarta. Through qualitative methodology, including interviews, field observations, and focus group discussions, this study identifies and maps gastronomic sites related to the Kingdom's heritage. The findings of this study highlight the cultural and historical significance of the identified culinary practices and their potential to enrich the tourism experience. By proposing a structured travel pattern for gastronomic tourism, this study contributes to preserving culinary heritage and advancing sustainable tourism development in Yogyakarta. This study also produces a gastronomic travel pattern of the Islamic Mataram Kingdom in Yogyakarta which is displayed through a travel map.Keywords:  Gastronomy; Travel Pattern; Mataram IslamAbstrakIstilah wisata kuliner akhirnya menjadi sebuah konsep yang umum, yang kini berkembang menjadi wisata gastronomi. Makna dari gastronomi sendiri tidak terbatas pada makanan semata, namun juga mencakup unsur budaya dan sejarah tempat makanan tersebut berasal. Penelitian ini mengidentifikasi wisata gastronomi dengan mengeksplorasi warisan kuliner jejak Kerajaan Islam Mataram di Yogyakarta. Melalui metodologi kualitatif, termasuk wawancara, observasi lapangan, dan diskusi kelompok terfokus, penelitian ini mengidentifikasi dan memetakan situs gastronomi yang terkait dengan warisan Kerajaan tersebut. Temuan penelitian ini menyoroti signifikansi budaya dan sejarah dari praktik kuliner yang diidentifikasi dan potensinya untuk memperkaya pengalaman wisata. Dengan mengusulkan pola perjalanan terstruktur untuk wisata gastronomi, penelitian ini berkontribusi untuk melestarikan warisan kuliner dan memajukan pembangunan pariwisata berkelanjutan di Yogyakarta. Penelitian ini juga menghasilkan sebuah pola perjalanan gastronomi jejak mataram Islam di Yogyakarta yang ditampilkan melalui peta perjalanan.Kata Kunci:  Gastronomi; Pola Perjalanan; Mataram Islam

Abstract

Abstract: Over the last few decades, the tourism sector has experienced rapid development. Along with the continued development of the tourism sector, the concepts of tourism development are also increasingly diverse, one of which is halal tourism. Indonesia as the largest Muslim country in the world is certainly a very big opportunity in implementing the concept of developing halal tourism. In addition, research on the theme of halal tourism and Sharia hotels has been carried out a lot. The last six years have been very historic for developing tourism both in Indonesia and the world. 2018 and 2019 were the peak years for tourism. Then 2020 – 2022 was a difficult period for tourism, due to the covid – 19 pandemic, while 2023 was the recovery period for the tourism sector after the covid-19 pandemic.Purpose: This research aims to explore the development of scientific publications in the field of tourism, especially halal tourism, as well as Sharia hotels as accommodation providers for Muslim tourists which have been carried out a lot in the last 6 years, between 2018 – 2023.Research methods: This study used descriptive qualitative research methods using the Publish or Perish (PoP) software to collect data, and VosViewer to map the research network.Result and Discussion: A total of 200 articles related to keywords were collected using the keywords "Halal Tourism" AND "Sharia Hotel", but only 189 articles matched the predetermined criteria. The research findings show that for the last 6 years, 2022 is the year with the highest number of publications, namely 52 articles. Meanwhile, the highest number of citations is 326 citations in 47 articles published throughout 2021. Meanwhile, the VosViewer mapping results show that 44 keyword items are most used by researchers, which are grouped into 5 clusters.Conclusions: Research with the theme of Halal tourism and Sharia hotels has been carried out in the last 6 years. Opportunities for research themes that can be carried out are those related to halal tourism management, halal tourism destinations, and sharia hotel management.
