Abstract

This research aims to determine water quality analysis in different cultivation systems for tilapia (Orecromis niloticus) cultivation. This research was carried out in May 2024 at the Andalas Fish Seed Center, Gorontalo City. Method: This data was obtained from the results of measurements in the Bioflok pond, which is a holding pond for Tilapia fish (Oreocromis niloticus) and the Beton pond, which is a pond for rearing Tilapia fish seeds (Oreocromis niloticus), where measurements of pH, DO and temperature are carried out every 6 hours and on measurements. Table media is used in data processing to differentiate between one result and another. Based on the research results, it shows that the cultivation system using biofloc ponds is more effective in converting ammonia compounds into nitrate compounds and maintaining the water quality of the tilapia cultivation media. Water quality greatly influences the growth and survival of farmed fish, where biofloc ponds with more controlled water quality can increase the growth and survival of farmed fish.

Abstract

The freshwater lobster (Cherax quadricarinatus) is a precious commodity within the freshwater aquaculture sector. It is essential to investigate the effects of different natural feeds on lobster growth to enhance aquaculture practices. This study aimed to identify the types of natural feed that influence and improve freshwater lobster juveniles' growth and survival rate. This study was conducted from January to February 2024 at the Kasih Karunia Suwawa Aquaculture Hatchery. A Completely Randomized Design (CRD) was applied, with four treatment groups: Treatment A (bean sprouts), Treatment B (Tubifex sp.), Treatment C (tofu residue), and Treatment D (a combination of bean sprouts, Tubifex sp., and tofu residue). The feed was administered daily at 7% of the total biomass, with a feeding frequency of twice per day. Data were analyzed using ANOVA with SPSS software. The observed parameters included length growth, weight growth, survival rate, and moulting frequency. The results showed that Treatment B (Tubifex sp.) yielded the best growth and moulting frequency, with length growth at 0.76 cm, weight growth at 0.70 g, and moulting frequency at 0.67. The highest survival rate, at 96.67%, was observed in Treatment D (bean sprouts + Tubifex sp. + tofu residue). ANOVA results indicated that different types of natural feeds did not significantly impact the growth and survival of freshwater lobsters.

Abstract

Tilapia is a fish species in Indonesia with significant economic value. Tilapia cultivation has excellent prospects, both domestically and internationally, requiring effective measures to ensure production meets community standards. The prospects for developing tilapia cultivation are quite promising, as the low production costs of tilapia farming allow for higher profits. Biofloc technology is an alternative solution to the waste problem of intensive farming. This technology is highly advantageous because it not only reduces inorganic nitrogen waste from leftover feed and feces, but also provides supplemental protein feed for farmed animals, thereby increasing growth and feed efficiency. This study aims to analyze the benefits and factors that influence the success of tilapia biofloc cultivation in SikoFish Gorontalo. This study uses a quantitative method with data collection techniques through surveys and observations. The results of the study indicate that tilapia biofloc cultivation can generate profits of Rp. 180,585,000 / harvest with a return on investment of 1.14 years. Factors that influence the success of tilapia biofloc cultivation are location selection, container preparation, media preparation, seed preparation, seed distribution, feed management, water quality management, and floc density. Therefore, it is necessary to develop business and production cost efficiency to increase income and make tilapia biofloc cultivation viable.
