Abstract

TikTok already has the power to spread news apart from providing entertainment content. The emergence of TikTok is very massive and is used by many groups. TikTok brings a novelty with its content which is not only entertaining like lots of challenge videos and also often informative because many news channels have started to use TikTok as their media platform. One of them is the Bikini Bottom News TikTok account which actively reports the latest information on both socio-political issues and issues of international celebrities. The expertise of journalists and the credibility of TikTok, which started as an entertainment platform, come into question when we talk about news. This study analyzes the expertise and credibility of participatory online news in the visual community or citizens. Using case studies by conducting literature reviews and discussions with informants who have the same background, namely students regarding the bikini.bottom.news account, the authors obtain data that the TikTok platform, especially on the bikini.bottom.news account has two acceptances, which are considered to have met the skill requirements of a journalist to be trusted for the credibility of the news content and are considered not in accordance with the provisions of the expertise of a journalist and the content is considered not credible.

Abstract

Online friendship has become common between generations, especially among Gen Z and Millennials, and some friendships transition from online to offline, which requires disclosing their offline identities. Despite the risks involved, Online Social Networks (OSNs) are essential daily and provide self-expression, social pleasure, and networking opportunities. Privacy is a complex concept with different definitions, and interpersonal communication can be private but can become public depending on the context. Self-disclosure and trust are essential factors in online friendships. This study used netnography to study online consumer-based communities, particularly volleyball fans. We conducted observations, literature reviews, and interviews with informants who had experienced shifting from online friendships to offline ones. We analyzed the data descriptively using the theories of trust and self-disclosure. Participants connect with others who share the same interest in volleyball. They both use pseudonyms to protect their privacy but occasionally post pictures with censorship on their faces due to anxiety over privacy and online crime. They both establish trust with their online friends by analyzing their reputation, performance, mutual friends, interaction, and persona before extending their friendship from online to offline. The study found eight communication patterns that create trust, such as talking about common interests and exchanging personal information, and suggests opportunities for further research on comparing different age and gender groups and exploring communication patterns in other social media platforms.

Abstract

De Oost adalah film tentang perang di Indonesia antara Belanda dan Indonesia setelah Perang Dunia II yang dibuat oleh sutradara dari Belanda. Film ini mengangkat isu tentang dampak buruk pertempuran seperti biasanya film dengan genre postkolonialisme atau perang dengan beberapa tambahan cerita tentang romansa dan pengkhianatan. Sutradara De Oost, menggunakan perspektif kulit putihnya untuk mengeksplorasi pengalaman perang di negara terjajah. Dia merilis film ini pada tahun 2020 dan diputar di Netherland Film Festival, juga diambil oleh OTT Prime Video dan MolaTV untuk diputar secara internasional. Sayangnya menurut saya plot dan eksekusinya tidak memberi tahu kita bagaimana sebenarnya perang antara Indonesia dan Belanda terjadi di masa lalu. Juga, ada banyak stereotip tentang bagaimana Barat dan Eropa melihat Indonesia. Sudut pandang yang berbeda menjadi dasar permasalahan saya dalam memulai penelitian ini. Melalui analisis isi, saya akan memaparkan bagaimana De Oost secara teoritis terkait dengan perspektif Postkolonialisme dan kritik Transnasional di abad ke-20 ketika migrasi konten sinema dapat dilakukan dengan mudah dan bagaimana hal itu dapat mempengaruhi khalayak global dalam membentuk pandangan mereka tentang kolonialisme yang terjadi di Indonesia dan bagaimana masyarakat diaspora mempengaruhi proses produksi hingga pembingkaian makna film.Kata Kunci: De Oost, Film, Transnasionalisme, Poskolonialisme
