Abstract

Background: The rapid growth of electronic waste has created urgent environmental, ethical, and regulatory challenges, including concerns over unsafe disposal, weak traceability, and non-compliant handling practices. From an Islamic legal perspective, e-waste management should also align with Sharia principles related to environmental protection, public welfare, accountability, and prevention of harm. Objective: This paper aims to develop a computational law-based methodology supported by blockchain technology to ensure Sharia compliance in e-waste management, propose a conceptual Sharia blockchain platform, and formulate recommendations for real-world implementation. Methodology: The study adopts a conceptual approach through inductive analysis of Sharia principles, deductive reasoning, and systems modeling to identify compliance criteria, design requirements, and platform components. Results: The analysis identifies five key criteria for Sharia-compliant e-waste management and shows how blockchain, smart contracts, and artificial intelligence can support transparent, tamper-proof monitoring and verification. The study proposes a multipurpose Sharia blockchain model incorporating consensus mechanisms, cryptography, smart contract rule engines, and AI-based analytics. Conclusion: The proposed framework bridges Sharia law, sustainability, and emerging technologies. Implications: The findings offer practical guidance for developing values-aligned e-waste governance systems and may inform broader compliance assurance models beyond e-waste contexts.
