<![CDATA[Abstrak : Kemajuan teknologi informasi di bidang komputer yang begitu pesat telah mendorong semakin berkembangnya sebuah informasi. Salah satunya sistem informasi geografis dunia pariwisata Pariwisata menjadi industri yang sangat menjanjikan di tengah otonomi daerah yang memaksa setiap daerah untuk mengembangkan potensi dari sumberda alam di masing-masing daerah tersebut. Kota ternate sendiri tidak terlepas sumberdaya alam yang di miliki, salah satunya adalah potensi pariwisata di yang ada di Kota ternate antara lain : Obyek Wisata Alam : a). Pantai Sulamadaha, b). Pantai Kastela, c). Pantai tobololo, d). Danau Laguna, e). Danau Tolire Besar, f). Batu Angus, g). Gunung Gamalama. Obyek Wisata sejarah : a). Benteng Orange, b). Benteng Kalamata, c). Benteng Santo Paulo, d). Kedaton Sutan Ternate, e). Masjid Kesultanan Ternate. Informasi yang dibuat oleh Dinas Pariwisata setempat menjadi sangat terbatas karena masyarakat luas tidak bisa mendapatkan informasi tentang kepariwisataan yang ada di Kota Ternate sehingga perlu dibuatkan sebuah media alternatif untuk menginformasikan pariwisata Kota Ternate agar bisa dinikmati masyarakat luas, peta lokasi objek wisata juga belum ada, selain itu penyimpanan data yang masih manual terutama dalam pencarian data memerlukan waktu begitu lama, maka perlu dirancang sistem informasi geografis yang menarik dalam bidang kepariwisataan agar bisa menarik perhatian pengunjung baik lokal maupun manca negara sehingga mampu memberikan informasi bagi masyarakat luas tentang tempat pariwisata yang ada di kota ternate melalui media internet. Penelitian ini menekan pada sistem informasi geografis (SIG) sebagai alat bantu yang tepat untuk menengani masalah ini. Sistem informasi geografis (SIG) memiliki kemampuan untuk menyediakan informasi dan menampilkan dalam bentuk peta. Peta terdiri dari data dan deskripsi tentang lokasi pariwisata sesuai dengan objek wisata yang ada pada kota ternate.
