Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of strengthening local wisdom-based character amidst the challenges of globalization that have resulted in the decline of politeness values ​​and cultural identity of students. This study aims to analyze the role of the cultural Thursday habits integrated into social studies learning on the formation of local wisdom character of eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 9 Semarang. The study used a mixed methods approach with a sequential explanatory design and a pre-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design. The research sample consisted of 40 students selected using proportional stratified random sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires, observations, interviews, and documentation. Quantitative analysis was conducted using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test, while qualitative data were analyzed thematically. The results showed a significant increase in students' local wisdom character, indicated by a significance value of 0.000 (<0.05). Qualitatively, character formation occurs through consistent habituation through the use of cultural attributes, Javanese language habits, and performing arts activities. The integration of the program into social studies learning creates contextual and holistic learning, encompassing cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects. Thus, the cultural Thursday habits has proven effective in forming students' character based on local wisdom. ABSTRAK Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pentingnya penguatan karakter berbasis kearifan lokal di tengah tantangan globalisasi yang berdampak pada menurunnya nilai-nilai kesantunan dan identitas budaya peserta didik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peran pembiasaan Kamis Berbudaya yang dintegrasikan dalam pembelajaran IPS terhadap pembentukan karakter kearifan lokal siswa kelas VIII di SMP Negeri 9 Semarang. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan mixed methods dengan desain sequential explanatory dan rancangan pre-experimental one-group pretest–posttest. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 40 siswa yang dipilih secara proportional stratified random sampling. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner, observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Analisis kuantitatif dilakukan menggunakan uji Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test, sedangkan data kualitatif dianalisis secara tematik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan pada karakter kearifan lokal siswa, ditunjukkan oleh nilai signifikansi 0,000 (<0,05). Secara kualitatif, pembentukan karakter terjadi melalui habituasi yang konsisten melalui penggunaan atribut budaya, pembiasaan berbahasa Jawa, dan kegiatan pentas seni. Integrasi program dalam pembelajaran IPS menciptakan pembelajaran yang kontekstual dan holistik, mencakup aspek kognitif, afektif, dan psikomotorik. Dengan demikian, pembiasaan Kamis Berbudaya terbukti efektif dalam membentuk karakter siswa berbasis kearifan lokal.
