This research is about the reason the people are still doing ratek, the a’ratek process is carried out and the community views about A’ratek in South Polongbangkeng Takalar District. The type of research used is qualitative research that is analyzed and written descriptively. Data collection techniques were carried out using the method of observation, interviews and documentation involving 7 (seven) informants. Data analysis techniques are done by data reduction, data exposure, conclusion drawing and verification. And the technique of validating data uses a triangulation method or checking the validity of data that uses something else. Based on the results of the study, it shows that: (1) why the community is still doing ratek which is because it is an activity carried out in groups which is held as a process of maintaining the socio-cultural life cycle of the local community as well as the glue between family and community members Reading a'ratek serves as a complement to traditional events or gratitude for what is done because without reading the book Ratek has not been perfect ceremony carried out. (2) pelekannan ratek process there are several important things starting from ammuntuli (inviting), korontigi (affixing girlfriend leaves), and ranting reading, prepared food, and honorarium. (3) the view of the community regarding Ratek is one of the media that reminds us of the Prophet Muhammad as well as the preaching of the first scholars to gather people to listen to Arabic poetry. Ratek is a masterpiece of Sayyid Jalaluddin who teaches Islam to the Makassar tribe.
