Abstract

The achievement of learning objectives can be disrupted because of issues that occur in learning so that learning activities cannot be carried out optimally. As a result, it is important to identify the issues arising in order to select the most suitable solution to resolve them. The study aimed to identify problems with learning urban biology at one of the senior high schools in Jakarta and to find answers to those problems. The research method is using a case study method; a type of research that involves an in-depth examination of one individual, a group, an organization, and so on over a set period of time. The study's data collection methods included observation and interviewing. The study's findings reveal the following issues in learning biology at one of the senior high schools in Jakarta: 1) The biology program's implementation on practical indicators, 2) The redesigned 2013 curriculum, which is considered inconvenient for students and teachers to use, 3) Learning media selection and 4) Student learning interest. The solution to the problems of learning biology at senior high school in Jakarta is to understand the concept of implementing the 2013 curriculum so that it can provide innovative learning methods, can optimize the learning media that are being used, and understand the cognitive development of students with good communication skills.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the suitability of the class X biology textbook virus material with the Natural Science Teacher's Handbook for Class X High School published by the Ministry of Education and Culture of Research and Technology on the aspects of the breadth and depth of the material. The samples used were textbook A and textbook B. Data collection through documentary research with analysis of textbook content. Research data in the form of the suitability of viral material in textbooks is reviewed from the aspects of breadth and depth of material analyzed descriptively qualitatively. The results showed that Textbook A is in the "reasonable" category for its breadth and depth, namely the breadth of "appropriate" (80%) and the breadth of "appropriate" (75%). Textbook B is in the "moderately appropriate" category (60%) for the breadth of the material, and in the "appropriate" category for the depth of matter at the 70% category. Thus, textbook A and textbook B can be used as mandatory textbooks for students.

Abstract

Peserta didik merupakan usia yang rentan jika berhadapan dengan ular. Peserta didik perlu memperoleh pengetahuan dasar tentang ular, sehingga sikap takut dan jijik dapat dikurangi serta mengarah pada sikap ramah terhadap ular. Kegiatan pengabdian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh perlunya program penyadartahuan tentang ular kepada para peserta didik. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan pemahaman peserta didik tentang ular serta membentuk sikap ramah terhadap ular di kalangan peserta didik. Pelatihan ini menggunakan metode experiential learning dengan pendekatan berpusat pada peserta melalui teknik studi kasus dan simulasi. Kegiatan dilaksanakan di SMAN 103 Jakarta Timur DKI Jakarta. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat telah terlaksana dengan baik dan lancar, memberikan informasi yang bermanfaat bagi peserta didik. Keterlibatan aktif peserta didik dalam kegiatan menandakan keberhasilan kegiatan ini. Hasil pretest dan posttest memberikan gambaran bahwa kegiatan ini berpotensi meningkatkan sikap ramah peserta didik terhadap ular.
