Abstract

The melukat tradition is a purification ceremony for the soul and body, with water as the primary medium. Currently, the melukat tradition has become a trend as a self-healing experience, leading to an increase in visits. This has the potential to diminish the sanctity of the penglukatan cultural landscape. This study aims to map the locations of the penglukatan cultural landscape, identify the characteristics of the cultural landscape, and analyse supporting factors from biophysical, socio-cultural, economic, and legal aspects. Additionally, this study provides recommendations for sustainable tourism development using the SWOT method. The qualitative research methods employed include interviews, field observations, and literature studies. Nine penglukatan sites were identified, categorized based on management by traditional villages and individuals. The identification using 11 cultural landscape elements shows that all locations share similarities, such as the Tri Mandala spatial concept. The supporting factors from biophysical, socio-cultural, economic, and legal aspects are crucial for the development of the cultural landscape, enabling the formation of new penglukatan sites in the Tukad Penet Watershed. The strategic development recommendations for achieving sustainable tourism include the provision of healing spaces with disaster-resistant architecture, data-driven development, and community involvement in enforcing customary regulations with strict sanctions.

Abstract

Jayengan Kampung Permata (JKP), nestled within Surakarta City (Solo), is currently undergoing transformative development to emerge as a compelling thematic tourist destination, owing to its illustrious history steeped in trade, craftsmanship, gemology, and cultural heritage The aim of this research is to analyze the potential and assess selected areas of the JKP cultural landscape. After that, an analysis of the strategy for developing the cultural landscape to become a characteristic creative industrial tourism village was carried out using the SWOT method. The preparation stage begins with identifying the characteristics of the community in Jayengan Village based on literature study. This research method uses assessment parameters, which are taken from the Director General of Tourism Product Development using expert judgment. After that, calculate and analyze the classification of the area's suitability level for the cultural landscape. The area feasibility results were then analyzed using the SWOT method to create a characteristic cultural landscape development strategy in JKP. The findings unearthed three exceptionally promising entities within Jayengan Kampung Permata: the Nashwa Workshop Jewellery, Poo Kiong Temple, and Ndalem Harjonegaran. These sites boast profound cultural significance and possess a magnetic allure for tourism. Nonetheless, they necessitate periodic maintenance and minor refurbishments to ensure their enduring sustainability. The amalgamation of distinct ownership frameworks and consistent upkeep procedures amplifies the inherent value of these attractions, rendering them robust and viable as premier tourist destinations.

Abstract

Prioritizing the comfort and safety of pedestrian paths can increase pedestrian volume, reduce dependence on motorized vehicles, and contribute to sustainable urban development. However, pedestrian-oriented transportation planning is often overlooked. This study evaluates the landscape of pedestrian walkways along Jalan Raya Pajajaran a national road with high levels of human activity and Jalan Sudirman the oldest road in Bogor. The evaluation focuses on walkway typologies, which are then assessed for compliance with the design requirements stated in the Regulation of the Minister of Public Works that concern guidelines for the planning, provision, and utilization of pedestrian infrastructure and facilities, based on land use categories. The research method employed is descriptive analysis, with data obtained through field surveys and literature studies. The research findings reveal fifteen distinct typologies of pedestrian pathways, each characterized by varying widths and surface materials. The physical comfort condition of pedestrian paths in Bogor City predominantly falls into the moderate quality category. The analysis highlights safety and the availability of shading facilities as two critical issues requiring immediate attention. Pedestrian pathways in Bogor are positioned in a strategic yet vulnerable spot. This indicates that the pedestrian infrastructure falls under the “Grow & Build Strategy” category.
