Abstract

Laporan kasus ini bertujuan untuk menyelidiki etiologi lesi proventrikulus dan gejala klinis terkait pada ayam kampung lokal yang diduga menderita tetameriasis proventrikulus. Tetameriasis proventrikulus adalah penyakit unggas yang disebabkan oleh nematoda Tetrameres sp. Dalam kasus ini, 15 ekor ayam kampung lokal berumur sekitar delapan bulan dari Gianyar, Bali, Indonesia, menunjukkan gejala anoreksia dan diare kehijauan, yang mengakibatkan kematian tiga ekor ayam. Salah satu ayam yang mati menjalani pemeriksaan menyeluruh, termasuk pemeriksaan patologi anatomi (PA), histopatologi (HP), tes hemaglutinin (HA), dan tes inhibisi hemaglutinin (HI) untuk virus Newcastle disease (NDV). Pemeriksaan PA menunjukkan adanya nodul berwarna kehitaman dan kemerahan pada permukaan proventrikulus, meskipun hasil tes HA dan HI untuk NDV negatif. Pemeriksaan HP pada jaringan proventrikulus mengungkapkan adanya penampang melintang nematoda Tetrameres sp. dengan pseudo-selom yang berisi cairan eosinofilik cerah. Selain itu, ditemukan juga ektasia kelenjar proventrikulus dengan atrofi kompresi dan peradangan ringan.

Abstract

Penyakit Ginjal Polikistik (PKD) adalah kelainan genetik yang disebabkan oleh mutasi pada PKD1, yang sebagian besar ditemukan pada kucing Persia. Studi kasus ini melaporkan kejadian PKD pada kucing persilangan Himalaya-Persia yang diobati dengan terapi cairan, suplementasi ginjal, manajemen nutrisi, dan beras merah. Seekor kucing ras Himalaya-Persia betina berusia 5 tahun yang telah disterilkan dibawa ke Klinik Hewan Kassiti Vetcare, Bandung, dengan keluhan nafsu makan menurun selama seminggu, tidak mau makan selama empat hari, sakit perut, dan urin berwarna oranye. Anemia makrositer hiperkromik ditemukan pada tes darah lengkap. Pemeriksaan kimia darah menunjukkan peningkatan kadar kreatinin (363,1 µmol/L), yang menunjukkan gangguan fungsi ginjal. Pemeriksaan ultrasonografi menunjukkan bahwa ginjal membesar, batas antara korteks dan medula tidak jelas, dan kista hipo-anekoik dengan berbagai ukuran diamati di area korteks-medula ginjal. Pasien didiagnosis dengan PKD dan memiliki prognosis yang buruk. Perawatan yang dilakukan meliputi terapi cairan Ringer laktat intravena (IV), suplemen ginjal RenaCor®, beras merah Flozindo® (RMR), dan NatureBridge® untuk ginjal kucing. Kondisi pasien membaik setelah perawatan, seperti yang ditunjukkan oleh kondisinya yang aktif dan warna urin yang normal.

Abstract

This case report describes the clinical outcome of a dog with cutaneous myiasis treated with topical tobacco leaf infusion (Nicotiana tabacum). An 8-year-old male local dog from Tabanan, Bali, was presented with a foul-smelling open wound at the base of the tail. Physical examination revealed fly larvae within the wound, and cutaneous myiasis was diagnosed. A 2.5% w/v tobacco leaf infusion was prepared by heating 5 g of dried tobacco leaf simplicia in 200 mL of water at 90°C for 30 min, followed by cooling and filtration. The infusion was applied topically at 3–4 drops into the wound twice daily for 10 days. Manual larval extraction and wound suturing were not performed. Larvae emerged from the wound after topical application. Clinical improvement was observed during follow-up, with scab formation on day 7 and complete wound closure by day 14. No adverse clinical signs were reported during the observation period.

Abstract

Pink eye, or infectious keratoconjunctivitis, is a contagious disease that can impair vision and welfare if untreated. This case report describes the diagnosis and management of Pseudomonas aeruginosa-associated infectious keratoconjunctivitis in a sheep in Kulonprogo, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. A 3-year-old female fat-tailed sheep weighing 30 kg presented with bilateral redness for two days. Clinical examination revealed photophobia, corneal opacity, lacrimation, and conjunctival inflammation. Hematological examination revealed leukocytosis and neutrophilia, indicating an inflammatory reaction. Bacterial culture of a conjunctival swab identified P. aeruginosa, although antibiotic susceptibility testing was not performed. Based on the history, clinical signs, physical examination, hematological findings, and bacteriological confirmation, the sheep was diagnosed with infectious keratoconjunctivitis associated with P. aeruginosa infection and a favorable prognosis. Empirical treatment consisted of intramuscular dihydrostreptomycin sulfate–procaine penicillin G at 0.1 mL/kg body weight, intramuscular vitamin B12 at 0.01 mg/kg body weight, and topical oxytetracycline to both eyes. Improvement occurred two days after treatment, with reduced lacrimation and clearer corneas.
