Abstract

Anemia is a significant health issue among adolescent girls, particularly in developing countries. This study aims to explore the relationship between nutritional knowledge and attitudes toward anemia prevention in adolescent girls through a scoping review. The research methods included a literature search from databases such as PubMed, SINTA, and ScienceDirect, with inclusion criteria comprising articles in English or Indonesian published between 2019-2024. Fifteen studies were selected for analysis based on these criteria. The results show that increasing nutritional knowledge, particularly regarding iron intake and balanced diets, can enhance positive attitudes toward anemia prevention. School-based nutrition education programs and innovative media have proven effective, although socioeconomic challenges and access to nutritious food remain obstacles. In conclusion, sustainable nutrition education interventions are essential to reducing the prevalence of anemia among adolescent girls.

Abstract

The use of traditional medicine has been an integral part of healthcare in various countries, including Indonesia. This study aims to analyze the factors influencing adults' decisions to use traditional medicine, focusing on socio-demographic aspects, health conditions, and cultural preferences. Results from cross-country studies in Sudan, Jordan, Cameroon, Ethiopia, and Nigeria reveal that age, gender, education level, and health conditions significantly impact the choice of traditional medicine. Additionally, cultural preferences and inherited knowledge contribute significantly to these decisions. The findings suggest that it is crucial to integrate traditional medicine into modern healthcare systems, along with strengthening regulations and education regarding the safety and efficacy of traditional medicine to ensure better health outcomes.

Abstract

Traditional health care remains the community's choice in the midst of the modern health care system. However, their utilization is not optimal due to various factors. This study aims to analyze the influence of these three factors on the utilization of traditional health services in Pekalongan City. This study used a cross-sectional design with a quantitative approach. A sample of 393 respondents was selected using proportional random sampling technique. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire and analyzed using the Chi-square test and multiple logistic regression. The results of the analysis showed that cost and perception variables were related to utilization, but the information exposure factor was not statistically proven to be related. Cost was the largest influencing factor, with respondents who rated the cost of services as affordable being 3.5 times more likely to utilize traditional services. Cost and perception contribute to the utilization of traditional health services. Policies that focus on improving community perceptions and affordability are needed.
