Abstract

The urgency of this research is driven by the deficiency in students' critical thinking skills, which is rooted in the dominance of lecture-based teaching approaches. These traditional methods restrict student engagement and exploration, crucial for fostering critical thought. The research aims to explore the impact of the guided inquiry learning model on enhancing critical thinking skills among elementary students, specifically focusing on a sample of 40 fifth-grade students at SDN Lonja. Utilizing a quasi-experimental design with pretest and posttest control groups, the study gathered data through tests, observations, and documentation. The Paired Samples Test used for data analysis indicated a significant difference at the 5% level, with a p-value of 0.000. This outcome led to the rejection of the null hypothesis, confirming that the guided inquiry model significantly enhances students' critical thinking skills in Natural Sciences. The findings underscore the potential of guided inquiry as an effective instructional model, which actively engages students in learning, promotes analytical thinking, and reduces dependency on rote memorization, thereby nurturing critical thinking competencies essential for lifelong learning and problem-solving. This research holds implications for educators and curriculum developers seeking to adopt student-centered learning strategies that better prepare students for future academic and personal challenges.

Abstract

Abstract: This study aimed to determine the effect of TikTok application usage on the learning motivation of sixth-grade students at SDN Inpres Sarjo. This research employed a quantitative approach using a correlational method. The population of this study consisted of all sixth-grade students at SDN Inpres Sarjo, with a sample of 20 students selected through purposive sampling technique. Data collection techniques included observation, questionnaires, and interviews. The research instruments were questionnaires on TikTok application usage and students’ learning motivation using a 1–4 Likert scale. The data were analyzed using validity tests, reliability tests, normality tests, and simple linear regression analysis with the assistance of SPSS version 25. The results showed that the research instrument had a very high reliability level with a Cronbach’s Alpha value of 0.933. The normality test results indicated that the data were normally distributed with a significance value greater than 0.05. Based on the simple linear regression analysis, the correlation coefficient value obtained was 0.745 with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. These findings indicate that the use of the TikTok application has a positive and significant effect on students’ learning motivation in grade VI at SDN Inpres Sarjo. The more positively and educationally TikTok is used, the higher the students’ learning motivation tends to be. This study is expected to serve as a reference for teachers, parents, and schools in guiding the wise use of social media to support students’ learning processes. Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan aplikasi TikTok terhadap motivasi belajar siswa kelas VI di SDN Inpres Sarjo. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode korelasional. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VI SDN Inpres Sarjo, dengan sampel berjumlah 20 siswa yang dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, angket, dan wawancara. Instrumen penelitian berupa angket penggunaan aplikasi TikTok dan motivasi belajar siswa menggunakan skala Likert 1–4. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji validitas, uji reliabilitas, uji normalitas, dan uji regresi linear sederhana dengan bantuan program SPSS versi 25. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa instrumen penelitian memiliki reliabilitas sangat tinggi dengan nilai Cronbach’s Alpha sebesar 0,933. Hasil uji normalitas menunjukkan data berdistribusi normal dengan nilai signifikansi > 0,05. Berdasarkan hasil uji regresi linear sederhana diperoleh nilai koefisien korelasi sebesar 0,745 dengan nilai signifikansi 0,000 < 0,05. Hasil tersebut menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan aplikasi TikTok memiliki pengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap motivasi belajar siswa kelas VI di SDN Inpres Sarjo. Semakin tinggi penggunaan TikTok yang dimanfaatkan secara positif dan edukatif, maka motivasi belajar siswa cenderung meningkat. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi referensi bagi guru, orang tua, dan sekolah dalam mengarahkan penggunaan media sosial secara bijak untuk mendukung proses pembelajaran siswa.
