Abstract

The people at Dusun Klanting Jatiurip Krejengan Probolinggo speak Madurese, Javanese, even Madurese and Javanese combination. Their Madurese and Javanese are not in standard. Based on it, this study aims to find out kinds of pidgin and to identify the superstrate of pidgin used by people at Dusun Klanting Jatiurip Krejengan Probolinggo. Pidgin's theory of Holmes (2001) is used in this study to find out the superstrate of pidgin. In describing the data, this study uses descriptive qualitative method as research approach because the data is in description. The result of this study found that pidgin used by people at Dusun Klanting Jatiurip Krejengan Probolinggo are the combination of Madurese and Javanese. From the data, it found 36 words of Madurese and Javanese combination. There are 32 words of Madurese based language and 4 words of Javanese based language. Based on it, Madurese is the superstrate of pidgin used by people at Dusun Klanting Jatiurip Krejengan Probolinggo because Madurese gives more contributions to the form of pidgin.

Abstract

This study is of diglossia have to explain the varieties of Madurese language used at Islamic boarding school Nahdlatul Tolibin. The reason of choosing the Madurese language that located in Nahdlatul Tolibin is because there was Madurese diglossia phenomenon in Islamic boarding school “Nahdlatul Tolibin”. This study applies sociolinguistics as the theoretical approach which taking diglossia as the theory of it. The research design of this study is qualitative descriptive method. The observation and interviewing method becomes the data collection. The observation is continued with third technique “recording technique” and the continuous forth technique “writing technique”, however interviewing method continuous third and fourth techniques “recording and writing techniques”. In analyzing the data, the researcher uses Spradley method for the data analysis, they are: Domain analysis, 2) Taxonomy analysis. The data validity examination method is used the data triangulation because the researcher uses several kinds of data sources and proof of different situation, then the data analysis description method is applying the formal and informal.

Abstract

Madurese is a language used by the Madura ethnic in their daily communication. This research aim to describe the Madura dialect used in Probolinggo-Bondowoso-Banyuwangi whether the dialect is the same or different, and aims to determine the lexical differences of the Madura dialect in the three research areas and determine the status of the Madura dialect in Probolinggo-Bondowoso-Banyuwangi. This research uses a theory related to dialectology research and uses a quantitative descriptive method using 829 gloss from Swadesh Morrish developed by Nothover and was modified by Kisyani Savitri and also uses purposive sampling method in determining the research area and uses the interview method to collected data. After completing the data, there are 175 gloss of lexical differences was found by using dialectometry method. The result are: Probolinggo-Bondowoso has totally 107 gloss of lexical differences with 61,14% different dialect. Probolinggo-Banyuwangi has totally 162 gloss of lexical differences with 92,57% different dialect. Bondowoso-Banyuwangi has totally 143 gloss of lexical differences with 81,71% different dialect, and the status of the three research areas are different dialect.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the segment insertion, add new feature, and phoneme change of the Indonesian pronounced by Korea Reomit, Ujung Oppa, and Bandung Oppa as Korean YouTuber. The research design in this study is a descriptive qualitative method. The data collection methods used in this research are observation, listening, and note-taking. The contents used in this research are nine video contents. For the nine YouTube short contents are 80 pieces of data from three Korean YouTubers. The result of 80 data includes 16 data on segment insertion, 44 data on add new feature, and 20 on phoneme change. But, at the first subject, no phoneme change was found. Based on the amount of data, the dominant data was found at the add new feature. The result of this study is the segment insertion, add new feature, and phoneme change were found at the object of this research.

Abstract

This research is about linguistic landscape in Coffee Shop Signboard in Kota Probolinggo. This research is focus on language varieties that are used at coffee shop signboard in Kota Probolinggo and the informational function of the Coffee Shop Signboards in Kota Probolinggo. This research is included in descriptive qualitative method. It is chosen because relevant with objective to the study which is describe the phenomenon by word. This research finds that Indonesian is dominant as cafe’s name. It is because Indonesian is easier to understand than foreign language and local language in spoken and written. English is the second language that is used. There is foreign language namely Portuguese, Spanish, Greek, Indonesian – English, and Indonesian – Javanese. The function of signboard is as identity, promotion media, and area marker of coffee shop.

Abstract

This study analyzes the transcripts of King Charles III’s speech. The purpose of this study is to find out what deixis is used in King Charles III’s speech. Deixis is a form of language in the form of words and others that function specifically outside of language. In other words a form of language can be said to be deixis if the reference moves or changes according to who is the speaker and also depends on the time and place. So, in other words, deixis are words that do not have fixed reference. The scope of this research is pragmatic. The theory used is based on the theory by Levinson which explains the five deixis. Levinson’s theory is used in this study because Levinson explains personal, time, place, social, and discourse deixis types in more detail and comprehensively compared to other theories. This research is qualitative and descriptive method. Data collecting technique is the observation method. This study focuses on data collection, namely written documents in the form of text. The data source for this study is the transcript of King Charles’s speech “Deixis Analysis of King Charles III’s Speech In The King Coronation”.To analyze the data of this study, after collecting data from speech transcripts, the data of this study analyzed as follows: first, identify some words or phrases that are included in deixis expression. Second, the classification of predetermined deixis clauses based on criteria. Third, the data analyzed based on Levinson’s theory in 1983 which defined the types of deixis, namely: Person Deixis, Place/Spatial Deixis, Time/Temporal Deixis, Social Deixis, and Discourse Deixis. The latter determines the type of Deixis used in King Charles’s speech. The validity of qualitative research in this study can be seen by re-checking.There are two methods and techniques for presenting data analysis, namely formal and informal method. This study has 5 types of deixis used. There are 109 utterances using Person Deixis, 3 utterances using Place Deixis, 8 utterances using Time Deixis, 9 utterances using Social Deixis, and 12 utterances using Discourse Deixis.

Abstract

Tengger is one of the tribes on the island of Java, especially East Java. As the general public knows, the Tengger tribe has its daily language, namely Tengger language. Even though this tribe is located in the middle of an area that experiences language mixing, the Tengger tribe still uses their language in everyday life. The language, which more or less still uses Old Javanese, is an interesting object to research, one of which is the word affixes used in the Tengger language. This research uses a qualitative descriptive approach to analyze the problem. The research was carried out using the interview method so that researchers could understand what affixations are used in the Tengger language. After obtaining data results from sources, this research validated the data with people who were experts in the Tengger language. The results of data analysis from affixations in the Tengger language can be concluded that ten types of prefixes were found in the Tengger language, namely {di-, N-, kə-, neʔ-, mə-, digə-, ka-, pi-, paN-, taʔ-}. Two infixes from the data analysis results are {-əl-}, and {-əm-}. Seven suffixes are found in the Tengger language: {-an, -nan, -e, -ne, -a, -ən, -ana}. So, the total is 19 kinds of affixes found in the Tengger language.

Abstract

This research analyzes the perlocutionary speech acts used by the main character in the film Wish Dragon. This research uses the pragmatic theory of perlocutionary speech acts. The method used in this research is the qualitative description analysis method from Sudaryanto's theory, while to search or collect data and analyze this research data using George Yule's theory. The results found show that the data found in this research are 13 types which are included in perlocutionary from the 83 data found in the wish dragon film. 2 data were used to criticize, 10 data were used to greeting, 5 data were persuade, 9 data were used to thank you, 13 data were used to scoffed, 5 data were used to say goodbye, 4 data were blame, 13 data were apologize, 2 data were complain, 5 data were rejection. , praise shows 9 data, satirize shows 3 data, and angry shows 3 data.

Abstract

The port is a work area that has a high level of work risk in its operation. PT. Delta Artha Bahari Nusantara as the operator of Terminal Umum DABN Pelabuhan Probolinggo issued circular letter about the rules to protect the environment, workers and smooth port activities, it is necessary to have rules and regulations at the port. This study interesyed to analyze the text structure of Circular Letter About The Rules In Terminal Umum DABN Pelabuhan Probolinggo to see about the macro structure, superstructure, and micro structure that consist in the text in circular letter. This study theory uses critical discourse analysis with the Van Dijk model. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach in analyzing the problem. The research was conducted using the critical discourse analysis method, so that study can understand how PT. Delta Artha Bahari Nusantara issued Surat Edaran Tentang Tata Tertib Di Lingkungan Kerja Terminal Umum DABN Pelabuhan Probolinggo by analyzing the text in the circular letter. The design use in this study is qualitative research. The data source of this research is text form of the circular letter about the rules in Terminal Umum DABN Pelabuhan Probolinggo. Terminal Umum DABN Pelabuhan Probolinggo is the location for collecting data using documentation. The several steps in writing the analysis of this study is make a data classification and interpretation then re-checking to get the validation. The data analysis description method of the study is informal. The discourse structure contained in the text of circular letter will explain the macro structure, superstructure and micro structure in terms of thematic, schema and semantic analysis also finding the coherences that consist in the text of Surat Edaran Tentang Tata Tertib Di Lingkungan Kerja Terminal Umum DABN Pelabuhan Probolinggo.

Abstract

This study found the phenomenon of code mixing in Cinta Laura's conversational interactions on one of the TV stations uploaded on the Metro TV YouTube channel. The phenomenon of code mixing not only occurs in direct interactions but also often occurs in communication on social media. This happens because the dynamics of language continue to change in the social and technological context. Communication is common on social media such as Instagram, WhatsApp, TikTok, and YouTube. YouTube is a means of communicating with many people, and this has a significant impact on its users, both positive and negative. This study aims to describe the forms of code mixing types in Cinta Laura's conversation. This study uses Hoffman's code-mixing theory as the main basis for analyzing the collected data. The research design uses a descriptive qualitative method, with data collection techniques through observation and recording. The data source is all of Cinta Laura's conversations that contain code-mixing. The data was analyzed from one video with a duration of 42 minutes and 34 seconds, which was found in 97 code-mixing events. The analysis results show that 80 data were found that included intra-sentence code-mixing 7 data included intra-lexical code-mixing and 6 data included Involving Change of Pronunciation. This study also found a combination of two types of code mixing, mixing between intra-sentence and intra-lexical, in 4 data. This finding shows that the dynamics of language use in social media and digital communication are very complex and influenced by various social and technological factors. The results of this study are expected to provide a deeper understanding of how code mixing occurs in everyday communication.
