Abstract

The popularity of Korean dramas (K-Dramas) in Indonesia has grown significantly over the past decade, offering a unique opportunity to examine how global media influences local audiences. This study explores the socio-cultural impact of K-Dramas on Indonesian viewers through a mixed-methods approach, including national survey data, YouTube comment analysis, and regional access patterns. The research investigates preferences for subtitled content, perceptions of gender roles, family values, and beauty standards, as well as the extent of cultural hybridization and expressions of national identity in fan discourse. Findings reveal that a majority of viewers prefer subtitled content, particularly among younger urban populations, due to its role in enhancing cultural understanding. K-Dramas shape perceptions of gender and family, reinforcing certain norms while also offering aspirational representations. Beauty ideals presented in these dramas influence consumer behavior and identity formation, though audiences often engage critically with these portrayals. Additionally, the study uncovers a strong presence of cultural hybridization and identity negotiation, alongside regional disparities in media access and digital infrastructure. These insights contribute to our understanding of media globalization, demonstrating how transnational content is both consumed and contested within local contexts. The study highlights the need for inclusive digital policies and further research on the long-term implications of cross-cultural media exposure.

Abstract

The words gender and sex may already be familiar to the public. But most people still often misinterpret gender as sex. Which  two very different meanings. Gender is part of the characteristics or values given by society to display different roles, traits, characters, characteristics and certain functions for men and women. Because of this, gender is considered to be inseparable from the formations and results of social construction. That men must appear and be like men who have been determined and known by society for generations, and vice versa for women. Then this gave birth to gender inequality which led to unfair treatment, compartmentalization, problems of violence, and gave rise to distinctions and social barriers between something considered normal and abnormal (deviation). The influence of the mass media has also become one of the agents in forming social construction and gender stereotypes. The presence of the internet is like being a brain that carries a variety of messages and becomes an information center with various forms of media in the form of text, audio and video. Netflix is a form of new media which is an entertainment service in the form of a streaming website and has applications on digital devices such as laptops, tablets and smartphones. Then based on the matters that have been described, this topic becomes a research to be discussed and studied. The issues that are the main focus of this research are the concepts of gender and sex, social construction of gender stereotypes and problems for men in dealing with stereotypes that cause gender bias.  Keywords : Representation Gender Stereotypes Gender Bias Masculinity  Series Heartstopper

Abstract

Every aspect of a nation's life is heavily influenced and determined by the maintenance of its rule. Public administration, whether governmental, financial, military, or judicial, has existed since the era of Islamic civilization. In Islamic perspectives, government begins with literacy. As is well known, the majority of the Indonesian population is Muslim, and the Islamic regime plays a role in the development of Indonesia. This study attempts to explore more deeply about administration in Islamic concepts and its relevance to modern administrative practices. This research is a type of library study with a research approach using qualitative research methods. This research suggests that public administration in Islam emphasizes such principles as trust (faith), adl (justice), shura (consultation), and maslahah (kesejahteraan umum). Moreover, public leaders in Islam are expected to act with integrity, transparency, and accountability. The study concludes that Islamic public administration approaches can provide a strong and ethical framework for modern administrative practices, which focus not only on results but also on fair and dignified processes. The findings provide important insights for academics and practitioners in understanding and integrating Islamic values into contemporary public administration. The focus of the public administration that adopts the principle of Maslahah Mursalah is to good for the community. It is hoped that policies made with priority on justice, transparency, and participation can meet the needs of communities and enhance common well-being.
