Riskesdas tahun 2013 salah satunya diliat dari prevalensi pemeriksaan gula darah, diabetes melitus meningkat dari 6,9% menjadi 8,5%. Provinsi Sulawesi Utara berada di peringkat 4 prevalensi diabetes melitus terbanyak berdasarkan Riskesdas dengan jumlah 2,27%. Kota Manado angka kejadian Diabetes Melitus mencapai 12.991 kasus.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze factors associated with quality of life of diabetes mellitus patients in the Matani Community Health Center Work Area, Tomohon City. This study specifically examines the relationship between duration of disease, depression, anxiety, stress, and family support on quality of life in diabetes mellitus patients. The study used a cross-sectional design with 168 respondents selected through consecutive sampling. Data were collected through interviews using standardized instruments, the DASS 21, HDFSS, and Euro-QoL. The data were analyzed using the chi-square test and multivariate logistic regression. The results showed a significant association between duration of disease and stress with quality of life in diabetes mellitus patients (p < 0.05). Patients with a duration of >5 years of suffering are 3 times more likely to have a poor quality of life and patients with severe stress are 2 times more likely to have a poor quality of life. These findings indicate the importance of increasing awareness in adherence to diabetes mellitus management, especially for patients who have suffered for a long time and improving psychosocial monitoring services for diabetes mellitus patients, especially regarding stress management, and becoming the basis for strengthening primary health care programs in diabetes mellitus management so that the quality of life of diabetes mellitus patients improves.

Abstract

Gastritis is a common health problem in Indonesia, including in Manado City. Many patients manage gastritis symptoms through self-medication, often using over-the-counter and limited OTC drugs. This reflects a level of awareness but also underscores the need for proper education on drug selection, dosage, usage timing, and expiration awareness. Motivation plays a key role in influencing health decisions, including efforts to prevent gastritis recurrence. However, studies examining the link between motivation and self-medication behavior remain limited. This study aims to analyze the relationship between motivation and self-medication behavior in preventing gastritis recurrence among patients at Ranotana Weru Public Health Center, Manado City. It used a quantitative analytic observational method with a cross-sectional design. From a population of 123, a total of 94 respondents were selected as samples. Data were collected using validated and reliable questionnaires and analyzed using the Pearson correlation test in SPSS. Results showed a significant relationship between motivation and self-medication behavior (p = 0.015, r = 0.251), indicating a weak but positive correlation. Higher motivation was associated with a greater tendency to engage in self-medication as a preventive measure. However, self-medication should not be the first-line response. Professional medical consultation remains essential, especially if symptoms persist or worsen. Thus, education on the proper use, risks, and limitations of self-medication is crucial to support safer and more informed health decisions.

Abstract

This study presents a comprehensive analysis of the factors influencing Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) incidence in the working area of Puskesmas Tumpaan, South Minahasa. Utilizing a case-control design, 88 respondents—44 laboratory-confirmed DHF cases and 44 matched controls—were assessed to determine the association between behavioral and environmental risk factors and DHF transmission. Five key variables were examined: level of public knowledge, vector control practices (PSN), indoor clothing habits, household cleanliness, and water storage conditions. Bivariate and multivariate statistical analyses were employed to evaluate significant predictors of disease occurrence. The results identified knowledge about DHF (OR = 0.27; p = 0.013) and the habit of hanging clothes indoors (OR = 0.15; p = 0.000) as significant risk factors. Other variables—PSN, household cleanliness, and water storage—showed no statistical significance but remain epidemiologically relevant. These findings indicate that behavioral factors, particularly knowledge and indoor clothing practices, play a central role in influencing dengue transmission in endemic regions. The study underscores the importance of integrated health education and behavior-focused interventions in dengue prevention strategies.
