Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to analyze the regulation of deepfake technology usage within the legal framework of Indonesia, particularly concerning the Information and Electronic Transactions Law (UU ITE) and the Personal Data Protection Law (UU PDP). The main focus of this research is to identify whether existing regulations are sufficiently effective in addressing the threats posed by the misuse of deepfake technology and to assess the extent to which legal gaps affect the protection of victims. Methodology: This research employs a normative juridical approach with a statute-based method. The data used in this study includes primary and secondary legal materials, including relevant regulations and literature discussing deepfake technology and its impact on the law. Results: The research findings reveal that while UU ITE and UU PDP regulate data falsification and personal data protection in general, they do not specifically address the use of deepfake technology. This has resulted in a legal gap that causes uncertainty in handling deepfake cases in Indonesia. As a consequence, many abuses of this technology cannot be clearly addressed under existing regulations. Limitations: This study is limited to an analysis of existing regulations in Indonesia and does not include a comparative study with regulations in other countries. Furthermore, the research does not cover technical solutions related to deepfake detection, which could be part of a preventive approach. Contribution: This research contributes to understanding the shortcomings of regulations concerning deepfake technology in Indonesia and emphasizes the need for updates or additions to the legal framework to address these specific crimes. The study also provides a foundation for the development of more effective legal policies to tackle digital threats, particularly in relation to personal data protection and the misuse of AI technology.

Abstract

The implementation of the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program in legal education presents both opportunities and challenges in fostering effective collaboration among students, faculty, and external institutions. This study aims to explore the challenges faced in the implementation of MBKM at the Faculty of Law, Surabaya State University, and to identify strategic approaches to optimize its effectiveness. The research employs a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with faculty members, students, and program coordinators, as well as document analysis related to MBKM policies. The sample was determined using purposive sampling to ensure the inclusion of key stakeholders directly involved in MBKM activities. Data analysis was conducted using thematic analysis to identify patterns and key themes. The findings reveal that challenges include administrative inefficiencies, lack of coordination among stakeholders, and variations in student readiness. However, strategic interventions such as structured mentorship, digital integration, and policy alignment with academic requirements can enhance collaboration and program outcomes. This study contributes to the existing literature by providing a focused examination of MBKM’s implementation in legal education, highlighting the need for a more adaptive and structured approach. The implications of this research emphasize the necessity for universities to refine their MBKM frameworks to better support interdisciplinary learning and professional development.

This study examines the enforcement of doping regulations in Indonesian football, particularly in relation to FIFA and WADA standards. Using a qualitative approach, this research analyzes legal inconsistencies, procedural challenges, and their impact on players, clubs, and the league. The findings highlight the need for stricter enforcement mechanisms, better coordination among stakeholders, and improved transparency in the doping control process. The study concludes with recommendations for strengthening anti-doping policies in Indonesian football to enhance integrity and prevent future controversies. The study concludes with recommendations for strengthening anti-doping policies in Indonesian football by improving regulatory frameworks, enhancing enforcement mechanisms, and increasing collaboration between national football authorities, anti-doping agencies, and international governing bodies. Additionally, it emphasizes the importance of transparency in the doping control process, regular education for athletes and officials on anti-doping regulations, and the development of stricter sanctions for violations. These measures are essential to ensuring the integrity of Indonesian football, maintaining fair competition, and preventing future controversies that could undermine public trust in the sport.
