Abstract

This research is motivated by the rise of ableism. This research aims to discover Disability in the Qur'an Manifestation of Repositioning from Exclusive to Inclusive. This research uses library research by making the library the primary source for obtaining data. This research uses a qualitative approach to examine the theme of disability in the Qur'an and how the sacred text can be understood in a modern context as an effort to reposition from exclusive to inclusive. The results show that the Qur'an has many words for disability, namely, a'ma/ umyun, akmah, bukmun, shummun, and a'raj. There are 38 verses spread across 26 surahs of the Quran. There are four verses in the entire Qur'an about a person that speaks directly about their attitude towards a disabled person or refers to a person with a physical disability. The Qur'an sees people with disabilities as having to be tolerant like ordinary people or behave equally towards others, especially those who are weak to discrimination, which is a manifestation of the repositioning of exclusive to inclusive.

Abstract

This research discusses the concept of justice according to Syed Muhammad Naquib Al-Attas as an alternative solution to the problem of contemporary gender equality. The aim is to describe the meaning of justice ('adl) according to Al-Attas and examine its relevance in responding to demands for absolute equality between men and women. The method used is a literature study with a qualitative approach and content analysis of Al-Attas' works related to the concept of justice and human nature. The results show that justice, in Al-Attas' view, is a harmonious condition when everything is in its place and function in accordance with the nature and purpose of creation. In the context of gender, justice does not mean uniformity of roles, but rather fair placement based on the rights, responsibilities, and natures of each. The novelty of this research lies in offering a paradigm of fitrah-based justice as a critique of the Western concept of gender equality. The implication is that this approach can prevent misunderstanding of gender differences while emphasising the importance of the Islamic worldview in building fair and harmonious gender relations.

Abstract

This research aims to critically examine the feasibility of hermeneutics as a method of interpreting the Qur'an, while questioning its compatibility with the epistemology of revelation and the standardized and permanent Islamic shari'a system. This research is a qualitative study with a descriptive-analytical approach through a literature study method, namely by examining primary and secondary literature from the classical tafsir tradition and contemporary hermeneutic thought. The results show that hermeneutics has epistemological roots that are not in line with the character of revelation in Islam and has the potential to shift the authority of the meaning of the Qur'an towards interpretative relativism. The novelty of this research lies in its position that not only examines hermeneutics as a method, but also criticizes it philosophically and methodologically as an interpretive approach that cannot replace the established Islamic interpretive framework. The implication is that the results of this study can be an important consideration in maintaining the authority of tafsir methodology in Islamic education, as well as being an academic policy footing so that Qur'anic studies remain grounded in the integrity of Islamic epistemology.
