Abstract

ABSTRACT Perineal tears are a good medium for germs to breed if they don't get proper care. This is also one of the causes of the variation in healing time for perineal wounds. Long wound healing time and inappropriate care techniques can result in postpartum infections. Non-pharmacological therapy that can be given to speed up healing includes the intervention of snakehead fish and catfish therapy. To determine the difference in the effectiveness of providing snakehead fish and catfish therapy in healing perineal wounds in postpartum mothers in the working area of the Majalaya health center. This research is a type of quantitative research. In this research, the Quasy Experiment design method was used with a Pretest and Posttest Nonequivalent Control Group research design. The population in this study was the target postpartum mothers with perineal rupture wounds in the working area of the Majalaya health center who gave birth at the end of June 2024, totaling 30 postpartum mothers. The research sampling technique used total sampling. The samples in this study were postpartum mothers who were in the working area of the Majalaya health center who gave birth with a history of 1st and 2nd degree perineal lacerations in June 2024, 15 postpartum mothers who received snakehead fish therapy intervention and 15 postpartum mothers who received catfish therapy intervention. 15 postpartum mothers. The results of the different tests were carried out using the independent T test on the post-test data for the Snakehead Fish Intervention and Catfish Intervention groups with a p-value = 0.000, which means <0.05. So it can be concluded that there are differences regarding the effect of providing snakehead fish and catfish intervention therapy on the level of healing of perineal wounds in postpartum mothers in the working area of the Majalaya Health Center. There is a significant difference between giving snakehead fish therapy and catfish therapy in healing perineal wounds. Snakehead fish therapy is more effective in healing perineal wounds in postpartum mothers compared to giving catfish therapy (p value 0.00 < 0.05). Keywords: Snakehead Fish Therapy, Catfish Therapy, Perineal Wounds, Postpartum Mothers

Abstract

Background : Perineal wounds are the most common maternal morbidity associated with normal birth. Long-term morbidity associated with repair of unrecognized external sphincter injuries or trauma can cause major physical, psychological and social problems. Perineal damage can have a major negative impact on women's health. Non-pharmacological therapies that can be given to reduce pain and speed up healing include sitz baths and infrared. Objective: To determine the difference in the effectiveness of using sitz baths and infrared light therapy in healing perineal wounds in postpartum women at PMB Midwife Novi in 2024. Method: This research is a quantitative research with a quasi-experimental design, the design used is a pretest and post test non-equivalent control group approach. The population in this study were all postpartum mothers with perineal wounds at PMB Bidan Novi in June 2024, totaling 64 postpartum mothers. The research sampling technique used total sampling. The sample in this study was 64 postpartum mothers who were at PMB Midwife Novi 2024 in June, 32 postpartum mothers with sitz bath intervention and 32 postpartum mothers with infra red intervention. Results: The research results showed that with a p value of 0.044 < 0.05, the results of the Mann Whitney test showed that postpartum mothers who were given sitz baths and infrared lamps healed their perineal wounds differently. Sitz bath (average value 1.09) accelerates perineal wound healing compared to infrared lamps (average value 1.84). The results show that there is a significant difference between the use of sitz baths and infrared lamps in healing perineal wounds, the use of Sitz Baths is more effective for healing perineal wounds in postpartum mothers compared to the use of infrared. Conclusion: There is a significant difference between the use of sitz baths and infrared lamps in healing perineal wounds, the use of Sitz Baths is more effective for healing perineal wounds in postpartum women compared to the use of infrared (p value 0.044 < 0.05).

The population in this study was 34 breastfeeding mothers. The sampling technique used in this research was a total sampling technique of 34 people. Results data analysis used univariate and bivariate analysis (Mann-Whitney). The research results showed that the mean weight rank of babies in the control group who were not given long bean leaves was 20.31, while the weight of babies in the intervention group after being given long bean leaves was 48.69. The results of the statistical test show a value of p = 0.000, which is greater than the significance level, namely α = 0.05, so it can be concluded that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. The conclusion of this research is that there is an effect of consuming long bean leaves on increasing breast milk production in breastfeeding mothers in the Pebayuran Community Health Center working area, Bekasi Regency.
