Abstract

Experiments have been conducted on the distribution of the magnetic field on a square Helmholtz coil. The experiments were performed remotely using a Remote Physics Laboratory (R-PhyLab). This experiment measures the distribution of the magnetic field around a box-shaped Helmholtz coil. There are two variations of the distance between the coils, which are (1) half of the side length of the coil, and (2) equal to the side length. Based on the measurement and data analysis, good results were obtained, which showed that the experimental value was in accordance with the theoretical value based on the Biot-Savart law. It can be concluded that the remote experiment using R-PhyLab is very suitable for use in learning physics.
