<![CDATA[Abstrak Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya tingkat kemampuan menulis teks eksposisi siswa kelas VIII-A di SMPN 51 Surabaya dengan rata-rata 74,3. Salah satu faktor penyebab adanya masalah tersebut adalah kurangnya pengetahuan atau informasi yang didapatkan siswa untuk mengembangkan ide dalam menulis dan menyunsun teks eksposisi. Alternatif yang dapat dilakukan untuk memecahkan masalah tersebut, yakni melalui konsep pendekatan kontekstual dalam pembelajaran dapat memahami materi dengan konteks dunia nyata atau kehidupan sehari-hari siswa. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah meningkatkan kemampuan menulis teks eksposisi berdasrakan struktur dan kaidah kebahasaan teks melalui pendekatan kontekstual dalam pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian tindakan kelas. Indikator keberasilan tindakan adalah nilai persiswa di atas KKM (75), yakni minimal 76. Subjek penelitian adalah tiga puluh siswa kelas VIII-A SMPN 51 Surabaya. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi dan nilai hasil tes menulis teks eksposisi. Teknik analisis menggunakan metode analisis deskriptif. Siklus PTK dilaksanakan dua kali. Hasil penelitian berupa peningkatan kemampuan keterampilan menulis yang terdapat dari hasil perolehan nilai tes pada siklus I dengan rata-rata 81,73, sedangkan pada siklus II dengan rata-rata 89,43. Hal ini menunjukan bahwa menerapkan pendekatan kontekstual dapat meningkatkan kemampuan keterampilan menulis teks eksposisi pada siswa. Abstract This research was motivated by the low level of ability to write exposition text of class VIII-A students at SMPN 51 Surabaya with an average of 74.3. One of the factors causing this problem is the lack of knowledge or information obtained by students to develop ideas in writing and composing exposition texts. Alternatives that can be done to solve these problems, namely through the concept of a contextual approach to learning, can understand the material in the context of the real world or students' daily lives. The purpose of this study is to improve the ability to write an exposition text based on the structure and rules of the text language through a contextual approach to Indonesian language learning. This research uses classroom action research. The indicator for the success of the action is the exact score above the KKM (75), which is at least 76. The research subjects were thirty students of class VIII-A of SMPN 51 Surabaya. The data was collected by means of observation and the test results in writing the exposition text. The analysis technique uses a descriptive analysis method. The PTK cycle is carried out twice. The result of the research is an increase in the ability of writing skills, which is from the results of the acquisition of test scores in the first cycle with an average of 81.73, while in the second cycle with an average of 89.43.
