Abstract

Corporate leadership is crucial for achieving organizational performance and gaining competitive advantage. It involves operational attributes like structure and culture, and guides individuals and organizations towards achieving their vision. This study sought to examine the influence of corporate leadership on the performance of water service companies in the Western Region, Kenya as moderated by organizational factors. The study was based on transformational leadership theory and institutional theory. The research followed a positivist research philosophy and used a descriptive and correlational research design targeting 245 respondents. For data collection close ended questionnaires were used. Data was analysed using both descriptive and inferential statistics. The study found that corporate leadership had a positive and significant influence on performance of water service companies in Western Region, Kenya whereas organizational factors had a positive though insignificant moderating influence on the relationship between corporate leadership and organizational performance of Water service companies in Western Region, Kenya. The findings extend our knowledge on corporate leadership practices that can enhance performance. The study recommends to government to formulate and execute suitable operational guidelines and policies that would improve in the management of organizations.

Abstract

Many organizations have realized the significant role played by Economic Order Quantity in determining Supply Chain performance. This study sought to examine the effect of economic order quantity on supply chain performance in county governments in western region, Kenya. This study adopted descriptive survey research design targeting 120 respondents from the procurement, stores and quality assurance departments. Data was obtained using structured questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Descriptive statistics used were: mean, frequency percentage and standard deviation while for Inferential statistics Pearson correlations and simple linear regression was used. The regression results established that Economic Order Quantity had a positive and significant effect on the Supply chain performance of County Governments in Western Region, Kenya. (β= 0.762; p< 0.000). The findings extends knowledge on inventory management practices and specifically on economic order quantity that can enhance performance. The study recommends for County Governments to adopt as well as integrate Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) into its supply chain strategies.

Abstract

Board diversity is an important aspect of corporate governance. This paper reviewed research on board nationality and educational diversity and organizational performance in both developed and developing contexts. Further, the paper identified research gaps that may have restricted generalization of the results. The study adopted a qualitative research approach where data was obtained from peer reviewed articles published during the 2010-2022 period. Based on the review most studies revealed that Board nationality and educational diversity influenced firm performance. This study highlights the importance of nationality and educational board diversity. It also offers insights to policy makers so that they can develop, implement and even improve on policies and regulations on board nationality and educational diversity as a way of strengthening board effectiveness thus resulting to organizational performance. The recommendation for firms is to consider nationality and educational diversity when appointing board members.

Abstract

This study sought to examine the influence of supplier development practices on supply chain performance of County Governments in Kenya. This study employed a descriptive survey research design targeting 112 procurement staff. The study utilized both stratified and simple random techniques. For data collection close ended questionnaires was used. For data analysis descriptive and inferential statistics were used. Descriptive statistics used were mean and standard deviation and Inferential statistics used Pearson correlations and simple linear regression. The study found that supplier development practices had a positive and significant effect on supply chain performance of County Governments in Kenya. The findings extends our knowledge on supplier development practices that can enhance performance. The study recommends for County Governments to develop suppliers through training, supplier financing and innovation so as to enhance performance of supply chain.
