Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektifitas penerapan metode STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) dalam meningkatkan keterampilan Sains anak Kelompok Bermain (KB) usia 2 – 4 Tahun di KB Babus Shafa Taccorong. Jenis penelitian dalam penelitian ini adalah Kuantitatif dengan desain penelitian pre-eksperimental dengan metode one grup pre-test post-test, subjek penelitiannya berjumlah 20 anak diambil secara acak dari populasi Kelompok Bermain (KB) Babus Shafa, melalui observasi pengumpulan data dalam 2 tahap, yaitu pre (sebelum) dan Post (sesudah) penerapan metode STEAM. Uji data dan analisis statistik dilakukan menggunakan Uji normalitas Shapiro-Wilk dan Uji-T dengan taraf signifikasi 0,05. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan jika sebelum penerapan metode STEAM 95% anak berada pada kategori kurang, dan 5 % pada kategori cukup. Setelah diterapkan metode STEAM terjadi peningkatan terhadap keterampilan Sains anak Kelompok Bermain (KB) menjadi 60% kategori baik dan 40 % kategori cukup. Hasil uji analisis-T menghasilkan nilai statistik yaitu -17,06 dengan nilai p-value sebesar 5,60 x 10?¹³, yang mana hasilnya jauh lebih kecil dari taraf signifikansi 0,05 sehingga terdapat perbedaan keterampilan Sains anak Kelompok Bermain (KB) sebelum dan setelah penerapan metode STEAM, sehingga dapat diambil kesimpulan jika metode STEAM efektif dalam meningkatkan keterampilan sains anak usia dini di Kelompok Bernain (KB) usia 2-4 Tahun pada KB Babus Shafa Taccorong.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of sensory play activities on the fine motor skills development and adaptive behavior of an autistic child at SLB Negeri 1 Bulukumba. Employing a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through participative observation during learning sessions, semi-structured interviews with the supervising teacher, and documentation of daily developmental progress. The participant was purposively selected based on motor skill challenges and regular sensory play involvement. Data analysis followed systematic qualitative procedures including data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing grounded in relevant theoretical literature. Results demonstrated notable improvements in fine motor abilities such as cutting, pasting, dough manipulation, and object transfer, reflecting enhanced hand-eye coordination and finger control. Behavioral advancements included reduced tantrums, improved focus, adherence to simple instructions, and increased independence in daily activities such as eating and dressing. Social-emotional growth was observed through emerging nonverbal communication responses like brief eye contact and gesture imitation. These findings confirm the positive role of sensory stimulation in motor development, emotional regulation, and learning readiness in children with autism. The study supports integrating sensory play within special education curricula as an effective intervention for holistic child development.
