Abstract

This study aims to explain Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS)-based formative assessment in learning and reveal the principle of constructivism in comprehensively building students' high-level thinking skills. Literature studies are used as a research method. Relevant literature derived from books and articles in scientific e-journals was collected through documentation techniques. Furthermore, the data obtained was analyzed for content. The results show that HOTS-based formative assessment is the key to improving the quality of learning. This assessment trains students to think critically, analyze, and solve problems independently. In addition, teachers can also get more accurate feedback on student learning development so that they can provide appropriate interventions. The theory of constructivism provides a solid foundation for developing HOTS-based formative assessments. These assessments measure students' learning achievements but also encourage students to think critically, creatively, and independently. By consistently implementing HOTS-based formative assessments, it can create graduates with the competencies needed to face the challenges of the 21st century.

Abstract

Quality assurance of higher education (QAHE) is a crucial issue in facing the challenges of the Society 5.0 era, where the integration of advanced technology and humanities is the main focus. This systematic literature review analyzes current trends and prospects of QAHE in the 5.0 era. Using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) method, we identify, filter, and analyze scientific articles from databases such as Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar published between 2020 and 2025. The results show that the QAHE trend in the 5.0 era has shifted from a traditional approach that focuses on administrative compliance to a more holistic and adaptive paradigm. Key findings include: (1) the use of artificial intelligence and big data analytics for data-driven decision-making; (2) a shift in focus from input-output to outcomes-based education that emphasizes the relevance of graduates to industry needs; (3) the adoption of agile approaches and flexible curriculum design; and (4) an emphasis on cross-cultural competencies and non-technical skills such as creativity, collaboration, and ethics. The study concludes that QAHE in the 5.0 era demands fundamental reforms, where collaboration between academia, industry, and government is key to creating a resilient and relevant education ecosystem. Prospects indicate deeper integration between technology and the humanities, shaping a more personalized, adaptive, and sustainability-oriented model of QAHE.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the trend of society on the quality of higher education and the factors that influence it during COVID-19. Data was collected through the google search engine in the period March 2020 to November 2021. Bibliometric analysis techniques based on Google Trend big data were used. The results of the study found that 1) the community trend regarding the quality of higher education was quite good with a range of information retrieval above 10% and a sharp increase during the July period; 2) two main factors influence the trend of awareness of the quality of higher education, namely the acceptance of new students, and monitoring of accreditation ratings by BAN-PT. Therefore, higher education institutions must continue to improve binding quality services through accreditation instruments, especially on websites or online media owned by universities.
