Abstract

Nutrition plays a crucial role from the moment of conception to the final years of life, shaping our health outcomes and improving quality of life. The importance of nutrition in one’s life starts even before birth: during pregnancy, the nutritional status of the mother affects fetal development and pregnancy outcomes. Supplementation of vitamins and minerals is also necessary to ensure optimum fetal growth without compromising the mother’s health.

Abstract

The Philippine Healthy Index (Phil-HEI) is a locally developed diet quality index. Patterned the American Healthy Eating Index (HEI), it aims to assess an individual’s diet quality through a scoring metric based on existing dietary guidelines.

Abstract

Anemia is a persistent global problem and it affects all segments of the population from infancy, young and school children, adolescents, adults, pregnant and lactating women, and the elderly. It is more prevalent in impoverished countries. Globally, WHO estimated that in 2019, 40% of all children aged 6359 months, 37% of pregnant women and 30% of women 15349 years of age were affected by anemia. The South-East Asia Region is one of the most affected regions.
