Abstract

The Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT) is an important factor in the development of the halal food and industry sector in Thailand. Through collaborative efforts that promote knowledge sharing and best practices, technological advancements that enhance efficiency and transparency, regulatory frameworks that facilitate trade, and capacity-building initiatives that empower local enterprises, the Indonesian government has been able to enhance the quality and competitiveness of its products on the global market by sharing successful experiences and tactics in halal certification, product monitoring, and regulation. In this study, we adopted a qualitative approach to examine the contribution of the Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle in improving the quality of the food industry in Thailand. The qualitative findings provided a theoretical framework and conceptual dimensions, enhancing the understanding of how IMT-Growth Triangle initiatives influence the development and management of a sustainable dietary system in Thailand from the very beginning.

Abstract

This study examined the role of the Pact of Free Cities in responding to the Russia-Ukraine crisis, emphasizing the growing significance of urban paradiplomacy in contemporary international relations. The research addressed the issue of how cities operate as autonomous actors during international crises, independently from their national governments. This topic was considered significant due to the increasing visibility of cities in humanitarian responses and political positioning on the global stage. A qualitative comparative analysis was conducted focusing on the four founding members of the Pact: Warsaw, Prague, Bratislava, and Budapest. The approach involved examining municipal responses to the crisis in relation to their respective national stances. The findings uncovered that Warsaw, Prague, and Bratislava demonstrated alignment between local and national support for Ukraine. In contrast, Budapest’s municipal government adopted a pro-Ukrainian position, diverging sharply from the national government’s pro-Russian orientation. This contrast illustrated the potential of cities to assert independent international positions and contribute meaningfully to global humanitarian and democratic efforts. The study concluded that the Pact of Free Cities has served as a vital platform for cities to uphold democratic values and foster international solidarity, even when national narratives are at odds with one another.

Abstract

Existing studies on post-2015 backlash in Germany often rely on broad xenophobia indicators, which can conflate Islamophobia with general anti-immigrant hostility. This study documents whether anti Muslim hate crime shows a distinct post-2017 trajectory using the official ‘islamfeindlich’ category. Using a qualitative-descriptive design grounded in the qualitative description approach, the study combines descriptive trend analysis of BKA/PMK “islamfeindlich” data for 2017–2024 with narrative synthesis of OSCE/ODIHR hate crime reports, the UEM expert report, and comparative research on the 2015/16 inflow and social cohesion. Guided by Group Threat Theory and the Islamophobia framework, the analysis shows that official “islamfeindlich” statistics reveal a persistently high and recently intensifying pattern of anti-Muslim incidents from 2017 to 2024, indicating that the short-term anti-immigrant backlash triggered by the 2015–2016 refugee inflow indicates a sustained pattern of religion-specific hostility directed at Muslims. Implications: The study highlights the need for precise outcome measures and supports policy interventions such as routine protection of mosques, targeted anti-bias and media literacy programs, and improved reporting mechanisms that link administrative and civil society monitoring.
