Abstract

Religious life in Indonesia is an important aspect of people's life. However, in reality, religious life in Indonesia still faces various challenges, such as intolerance, discrimination and violence. Intolerance is an intolerant attitude towards different views or beliefs. Discrimination is unfair treatment of a person or group based on their religion. Violence is an action that causes physical or psychological harm to a person or group based on their religion. Thomas Aquinas' metaphysical perspective on religious life can provide useful insights for understanding and overcoming these challenges. Aquinas emphasized the importance of the nature or essence of a thing. This essence is something that is inherent in something and cannot change. In the context of religious life, this essence can be interpreted as basic values that form the basis for good religious practice. Based on Aquinas' perspective, intolerance, discrimination and violence are religious practices that are not in accordance with its essence. These practices conflict with universal basic values, such as the values of truth, goodness and justice. The purpose of writing this article is to reflect the reality of religious life in Indonesia from the metaphysical perspective of Thomas Aquinas. The method used in writing this article is a qualitative bibliographic method by searching books as primary sources and articles as secondary sources. The results found in writing this article are various problems in religious life in Indonesia which are basically a lack of awareness to use reason in believing. Finally, it can be concluded that respect for differences in religious life to create a harmonious relationship will be achieved if Indonesian people use reason in their faith.

Abstract

This paper is intended to critically discuss the impact of infidelity on Catholic families, which includes threats, pastoral opportunities, and strategies needed in dealing with such cases. The method used in this paper is the case study method. This method allows the author to use some literature in the form of books, scientific journals, magazines, and online media that have relevance to the case raised in this paper. The case of infidelity raised in this study is part of the author's concern over events that have degraded and damaged the holiness of a marriage in the Catholic Church. In addition, infidelity has also become a very serious threat to the sustainability of Catholic families and of course has also threatened and damaged humans as moral creations of God. In this paper, the author attempts to critically analyze the case by paying attention to the guidelines of marital morality of the Catholic Church, especially based on the Code of Canon Law (KHK) and the apostolic call on family life. Based on the analysis, it was found that infidelity has damaged the lives of Catholic families and has had a significant impact on the decline of morality among families who have been bound in holy matrimony by the Catholic Church. In addition, infidelity has also destroyed the harmony that has been built in God's love. There are also pastoral strategies that we propose in this paper, including: the need for further formation for Catholic families regarding the consequences of holy marriage and monogamy. In addition, it is also necessary to hold meetings involving all Catholic families in order to create an atmosphere of intimacy among fellow families which ultimately brings awareness to care about the continuity of a holy and once-in-a-lifetime marriage.

Abstract

The author puts the focus of this paper under the title “Peter Dews' Hermeneutic Study of Theodor Adorno: Cyberattack Crime and Its Relevance to the Establishment of Religious Life in Indonesia”. Cyber crime is rampant and its impact on the stability of religious life. The aim is that the author wants to open the reader's horizon to see Theodor Adorno's contribution as interpreted by Peter Dews regarding today's indiscriminate crimes and dare to think broadly regarding the establishment of religious life and universal public morality. In addition, the Church and the Nation dare to take positive lessons from the existence of Artificial Intelligence today, not to discriminate against other religions, nor to create dichotomies and demarcation lines between religions in Indonesia. The method used in this paper is a qualitative study with a phenomenological approach. The author finds that a lot of literature has discussed cybercrime, but in this paper the author looks further, namely the lens of Theodor Adorno's thoughts interpreted by Peter Dews regarding this crime. As a brief conclusion, the human subject that actively faces the world is a subject that is separated from nature as a whole and then consciously becomes a subject that is only calculative towards the world. Increasingly, an unforgiving society is objectively antagonistic in its adaptation to every situation. The root of this evil is human freedom trapped in itself and its social world by utilizing Artificial intelligence to attack religion.
