Abstract

This research examines the permeability characteristics of sandy and clay soils and their implications for irrigation management in agricultural systems. Soil permeability is a key factor in determining water use efficiency and optimal irrigation strategies. The research methodology includes laboratory analysis of sandy and clay soil samples from various agricultural locations, measuring physical soil characteristics, infiltration rates, water storage capacity, and hydraulic conductivity. The results show significant differences between the two soil types, where sandy soil has high permeability ranging from 10^-3 to 10^-2 cm/second, low water storage capacity, and rapid infiltration rates, thus requiring more frequent irrigation with smaller volumes. In contrast, clay soil has low permeability ranging from 10^-7 to 10^-6 cm/second, high water storage capacity, and slow infiltration rates, requiring less frequent irrigation with larger volumes. Based on these results, specific irrigation management recommendations were developed that include irrigation schedule adjustments, water volume regulation, selection of appropriate irrigation methods, and water conservation techniques. This research provides important contributions to optimizing irrigation water use based on soil permeability characteristics, which can improve water use efficiency and agricultural productivity.

Abstract

This research evaluates the effectiveness of soursop leaf extract (Annona muricata) as a natural pesticide in controlling pests on eggplant plants (Solanum melongena). The use of natural pesticides is an environmentally friendly alternative to reduce the negative impact of chemical pesticides on the environment and human health. Soursop leaf extract is obtained through a manual crushing method without solvents and applied directly to eggplant plants infected with pests, especially aphids (Aphididae) and fruit caterpillars (Leucinodes orbonalis). Observations were made within 24 hours to assess changes in pest populations after application. The results of the study showed that soursop leaf extract was able to reduce the pest population significantly, with the majority of pests experiencing disturbances in their feeding activity or death after treatment. The effectiveness of this natural insecticide is thought to come from the content of bioactive compounds such as acetogenin, flavonoids and alkaloids which play a role in inhibiting pest metabolism. Although initial results show positive potential, further research is needed to test its long-term effectiveness and impact on eggplant plant growth and productivity. This study contributes to the development of more sustainable pest control methods in organic farming systems.

Abstract

Alpha Tutoring (bimbel) is a community service program to help children in Sabi Village understand Mathematics and Science lessons. Many students experience learning difficulties due to economic constraints, lack of supervision at home, and less than ideal school conditions such as frequent empty periods due to teacher absences. These conditions lead to low learning motivation and student understanding of the material. This program aims to provide additional lessons with a fun, game-based approach. This program also serves as a means for Teachers College students to develop teaching skills in the community. This activity is held twice a week, namely on Mondays for Mathematics and Thursdays for Science, starting from September 19, 2024 - May 26, 2025. The methods used are lectures, discussions, questions and answers, and the use of game strategies containing material and questions using PPT media. The purpose of the strategy game with PPT is to check student understanding in a fun way. Based on a questionnaire completed by 41 students, data obtained 85% stated that they were very happy to participate in tutoring. Regarding student learning motivation, data obtained 88% of students were very motivated to use this method. 63% of students found it significantly helpful because they understood the material better. This demonstrates that game-based learning methods can increase motivation and improve student learning outcomes.
