Abstract

The welfare of honorary teachers in Elementary Schools is still relatively low, mainly because the wages are far below standard. Although BOS funds of 15% of IDR 342,000,000 per year have been allocated, this amount is not enough to meet the needs of honorary teachers. Limited resources worsen the situation and hinder the effectiveness of collaboration in improving their welfare. This study aims to analyze the improvement of honorary teacher welfare through implementing Pentahelix in education sector stakeholders. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method, and data analysis is carried out using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana methods. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation from 10 informants. The results show that collaboration between the Education Office, principals, school committees, cooperatives, and social media is key, with the most significant contribution from the Education Office (40%). However, coordination and resources need to be improved for the effectiveness of this model. The implications of the results of this study are a deeper understanding of the role of each stakeholder in supporting the welfare of honorary teachers, mainly how policies from the Education Office contribute significantly.

Abstract

Sea turtle and mangrove conservation play a strategic role in maitaining the balance of coastal ecosystem. A community service program themed on sea turtle and mangrove conservation was conducted at Bajulmati Beach and Ungapan Beach, Malang Regency, in collaboration with the Bajulmati Sea Turtle Conservation. The aim of this program was to raise students’ awareness of the importance of preserving coastal environments. The participants were provided with education on sea turtle and mangrove conservaion and were actively involved releasing 196 hatchlings into their natural habitat and planting 75 mangrove seedlings along the riverbanks. A total of 150 students form Universitas Brawijaya participated in this program, gaining insights into the critical role of sea turtles and mangroves in maintaining marine esosystem balance. The program’s outcomes showed an increased awareness among student about the significane of conservation and the sustainability of coastal ecosystems. It hoped that students will develop a stronger sense of responsibility in protecting the environtment and contributing to conservation efforts in the futur. Furthermore, this program aims to foster ecological awareness among the younger generation as future stewards of natural resources.

Abstract

The presence of institutional repositories is a relatively new service method in dissemination practices as well as ideal for supporting the visibility of universities.  This success is inseparable from the implementation of capacity building, which is interesting to study. This paper uses a descriptive-qualitative perspective. The method used is a case study to examine aspects of capacity building in the Brawijaya Knowledge Garden (BKG) with three main aspects, namely effectiveness (effectively), efficiency (efficiently), and sustainability (sustainable). The aim is to reveal the effect of capacity development on the institutional repository system and to find the patterning of synergistic aspects between capacity development and institutional repository governance at Brawijaya Knowledge Garden (BKG).There are three main findings in this paper. The effectiveness aspect describes the repository access model that can be done online; in addition, the repository is also multi-platform and can be accessed using a variety of operating systems, such as Windows, Lynx, and Mac; second, the efficiency aspect is related to the maximization of use and dissemination by users. The efficiency aspect of the repository can be seen in the content search process, such as the use of a number of search options that can be selected; third, the sustainable aspect includes the management of scientific work carried out based on the increasing number of works deposited each time. Finally, the integration between capacity building components and Brawijaya Knowledge Garden (BKG) services forms a synergistic pillar and forms an integrative cycle between capacity building and institutional repositories in university libraries that is interesting to continue to be studied from time to time.
