Abstract

Tolerance education in Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) plays a strategic role in shaping students' (santri) character to appreciate diversity and differences. This study aims to explore the implementation of tolerance education in traditional (salaf) and modern pesantren, as well as the efforts of these institutions in fostering humane behavior among santri. The main focus of this research is on the application of tolerance education models in both types of pesantren, along with social and religious activities that support the development of tolerance attitudes. Research result The salaf pesantren, with its more conservative approach, teaches tolerance through the reinforcement of manners (adab), ethics (akhlak), and respect for differences. Tolerance education in salaf pesantren emphasizes the internalization of character, including respect for differences in religion, culture, and social backgrounds. On the other hand, modern pesantren adopt a more inclusive curriculum, integrating values of diversity in both academic and religious teachings. Modern pesantren emphasize understanding pluralism and multiculturalism as part of developing a more open-minded character among santri towards differences. Pesantren’s efforts to address differences are internalized through social and religious activities, which provide santri with direct experiences in interacting with a more diverse society. This study shows that both salaf and modern pesantren have complementary approaches in cultivating tolerance. These two educational models make significant contributions to the formation of humane attitudes and respect for diversity in a pluralistic society.

Abstract

This research examines the application of the hermeneutic approach in progressive tafsir to understand ulumul Quran in the contemporary era. Progressive tafsir, which focuses on social, cultural and historical contexts, seeks to provide a more relevant understanding of the Qur'anic text. In this study, a descriptive qualitative approach is used to analyse how progressive tafsir is applied in responding to the challenges of the times, such as issues of gender equality, religious pluralism, and human rights. The research data sources consist of progressive tafsir texts and in-depth interviews with tafsir experts, academics, and practitioners of Islamic thought. The purpose of this study is to explore how progressive tafsir uses a hermeneutical approach to produce an understanding that is more applicable and responsive to social dynamics. The results show that although progressive tafsir has great potential in providing solutions to contemporary problems, public acceptance of this tafsir is still limited, mainly due to the dominant influence of traditional tafsir. However, this study confirms that progressive tafsir with a hermeneutic approach can make a significant contribution in developing Islamic thought that is more inclusive and adaptive to changing times, as well as renewing understanding of the Qur'an contextually.

Abstract

The fiqih ubudiyah seminar is an educational strategy that aims to improve students' understanding of the practice of ablution. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the fiqih ubudiyah seminar in improving the skills of SDN 4 Jember Jawa Timur students in the correct ablution procedure. The method used was Community Engagement Research (CRI) with a descriptive qualitative approach. Data was collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis. The results showed that the seminar successfully improved students' understanding of ablution from 20% before the seminar to 50% after the hands-on session. Success factors of the programme include the participatory approach and students' active involvement in the ablution practice. However, challenges such as lack of support from parents and limited school facilities still need to be overcome.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the integration of Qur'anic values in science education and its impact on students' understanding of the relationship between revelation and logic in science. Along with the development of education that demands the merging of scientific knowledge and ethics, this research tries to explore how religious values can enrich science learning in Islamic-based schools. This type of research is descriptive qualitative research with a case study approach. The main data sources come from in-depth interviews with teachers and students, as well as observation of the Qur'an-based science learning process in several schools. This study aims to find out how Qur'anic values are applied in science learning and how they affect the development of students' moral attitudes and scientific understanding. The results show that the integration of revelation in science education has a positive impact on students' critical and reflective attitude towards science, while strengthening their moral understanding. Despite the challenges in linking scientific concepts with religious values, the application of Qur'anic values in science education proved to make an important contribution in shaping a more holistic student character, with a balance between scientific knowledge and moral ethics.

Abstract

Transformation of Human Resources (HR) management is key to addressing the challenges of a productive work culture in organisations. Key strategies implemented include improving the recruitment system, developing training programmes and continuous learning, and implementing an effective performance management system. Training programmes not only enhance employee skills but also attract top talent, improve retention, and strengthen the culture of innovation within the organisation.In addition, building a productive work culture through transparent communication and team building activities has been shown to improve collaboration, morale and employee engagement. The implementation of reward and recognition programmes also plays a role in maintaining motivation and improving individual and team performance.While challenges such as resistance to change remain, effective communication approaches, management support, and employee engagement in the transformation process are key solutions. By implementing the right strategies, organisations can create a more dynamic, innovative and competitive work environment to achieve long-term sustainability.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the optimisation of data-driven management strategies in improving teaching quality in primary schools. In an educational context that is increasingly dependent on technology, the use of data to support educational decisions is crucial. This research adopts a qualitative approach using data triangulation techniques to ensure the validity of the findings. Data were obtained from in-depth interviews with principals, teachers and administrative staff in several primary schools, as well as direct observation of the data-driven learning process. The main objective of this study is to understand how data-driven management strategies can be implemented in primary schools and analyse the factors that influence the effectiveness of its use in improving teaching quality. The results show that although the implementation of data-driven management has positive impacts, such as improved lesson planning and better communication with parents, the main challenge lies in the limited technological infrastructure and the lack of training for teachers in data management. The research also confirms that the successful use of data is highly dependent on the quality of training provided to teachers and the provision of adequate infrastructure. Overall, this study suggests the need for strengthening technical capacity and policies that support data management in primary schools to achieve optimisation of the use of data-based management in improving teaching quality.
