Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to examine the potential and development strategies of the Danau Atas tourism object located within the Alahan Resort/Villa Resort area in Nagari Alahan Panjang, Solok Regency, by employing the SOAR (Strengths, Opportunities, Aspirations, Results) analytical approach. The Danau Atas area possesses major attractions in the form of a cool highland natural panorama, scenic lake landscapes, and opportunities for family-oriented recreation and nature-based relaxation. However, the management and development of this tourism area have not yet been optimal, particularly in terms of supporting facilities, enhancement of tourism attractions, and community involvement in tourism management. This research adopts a descriptive qualitative method, with data collected through field observations, documentation, and interviews with key stakeholders, including resort managers, local communities, and relevant parties involved in tourism development. The SOAR analysis is applied to identify the internal strengths of the tourism area, available development opportunities, the aspirations of managers and the local community, as well as the expected outcomes of community-based tourism development strategies in the Danau Atas area. The findings indicate that the primary strengths of the Danau Atas tourism object lie in its attractive natural scenery, the availability of amenities such as villas and resorts, and its strategic location along the Alahan Panjang tourism route. Development opportunities include the growing trend of highland nature tourism, digital promotion, and inter-stakeholder collaboration in tourism management. Development aspirations are directed toward improving facilities, strengthening human resource capacity, and developing tourism attractions based on local culture. The recommended strategies include enhancing the quality of amenities, adding supporting facilities such as gazebos and sanitation infrastructure, and strengthening community participation to realize a sustainable and competitive Danau Atas tourism destination.

Abstract

Abstract

Tanah Datar Regency is highly vulnerable to earthquake hazards due to the Semangko fault and its two active segments, Sumani and Sianok, which induce significant tectonic deformation and directly affect settlements and land-use dynamics. This study was conducted to fill the knowledge gap related to the integration of disaster mitigation in spatial planning, with two main objectives: 1) identifying and analyzing spatial conflicts that arise between the dynamics of land use change, the distribution of vulnerable settlements, and active fault disaster prone zones with the regional spatial planning of Tanah Datar Regency; and 2) formulating a model for integrating fault disaster mitigation into spatial planning based on risk analysis as a recommendation for sustainable spatial planning policies. The approach used is a mixed method with sequential explanatory variables. Quantitative analysis was conducted through spatial mapping to assess hazard levels, physical vulnerability, and the dynamics of land-use change, while qualitative analysis was used to validate the model and policy through regulatory interpretation and stakeholder interviews. The results show that 7.59% of Tanah Datar is in a high earthquake-hazard zone, followed by moderate (15.9%) and low (1.45%) hazards. Population distribution also shows that the majority of the population (20,094) lives in areas with a high level of impact, while 58,230 people are in the medium category and 67,87 people in the low category. This finding confirms the mismatch between settlement Development, land conversion dynamics, and the risk zoning applicable in the spatial plans. Therefore, the integration of disaster mitigation can no longer be positioned as an additional compent, but must become the primary foundation in spatial planning. This study recommends an integration model that places disaster risk maps as the primary reference in the formulation of spatial policies, thereby guiding the establishment of protected zones, settlements, and economic centers more safely and sustainably. This guide is expected to strengthen regional resilience and provide a scientific basis for the Development of evidence-based spatial planning policies.

Abstract

The conversion of rice fields in Nanggalo Subdistrict during the 2015–2025 period has resulted in a 23.96% reduction in land area and has driven physical and socioeconomic changes in the community’s way of life. This study aims to analyze the nature of these social changes, their impact on patterns of community interaction and solidarity, and the adaptation strategies employed by affected residents. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model and Interpretive Structural Modeling (ISM). The results indicate that the reduction in agricultural land has prompted the community to shift from agricultural work to various sectors of the informal service economy. These changes have also led to a decline in mutual aid practices, an increasing tendency toward individualism, and the emergence of social tensions between long-established residents and newcomers. To address these conditions, the community has developed adaptation strategies through livelihood diversification and the establishment of independent businesses. The results of the ISM analysis indicate that the utilization of social networks and the actualization of Minangkabau kinship values are the key drivers supporting the community’s ability to survive and adapt following the reduction of agricultural land.
