Abstract

This study aims to analyze strategies for developing basic literacy at SD Muhammadiyah 5 Pekanbaru, focusing on reading, writing, and numeracy skills. The research method uses a descriptive qualitative approach through interviews, observations, and document analysis. The results indicate that the school faces challenges such as limited infrastructure, low student interest in literacy, and lack of parental awareness. However, the school has implemented various strategies, including the integration of Islamic values, the use of technology, and collaboration with external parties such as the Muhammadiyah Branch Leadership (PCM) and Muhammadiyah University of Riau (UMRI). Flagship programs like MABIT (Night of Faith and Piety Development) and Ismuba (Islam, Muhammadiyah, and Arabic) are also applied to shape student character. The role of teachers as facilitators and motivators is crucial, with efforts to improve competence through training. Regular evaluations are conducted to ensure the effectiveness of literacy programs. This study concludes that strengthening basic literacy requires a holistic approach involving schools, teachers, parents, and the community. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis strategi pengembangan literasi dasar di SD Muhammadiyah 5 Pekanbaru, dengan fokus pada keterampilan membaca, menulis, dan berhitung. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif melalui wawancara, observasi, dan analisis dokumen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sekolah menghadapi tantangan seperti keterbatasan sarana prasarana, rendahnya minat literasi siswa, dan kurangnya kesadaran orang tua. Namun, sekolah telah mengimplementasikan berbagai strategi, termasuk integrasi nilai-nilai keislaman, pemanfaatan teknologi, dan kolaborasi dengan pihak eksternal seperti Pimpinan Cabang Muhammadiyah (PCM) dan Universitas Muhammadiyah Riau (UMRI). Program unggulan seperti MABIT (Malam Bina Iman dan Taqwa) dan Ismuba (Islam, Kemuhammadiyahan, dan Bahasa Arab) juga diterapkan untuk membentuk karakter siswa. Peran guru sebagai fasilitator dan motivator sangat penting, dengan upaya peningkatan kompetensi melalui pelatihan. Evaluasi berkala dilakukan untuk memastikan efektivitas program literasi. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa penguatan literasi dasar memerlukan pendekatan holistik yang melibatkan sekolah, guru, orang tua, dan masyarakat.
