Abstrak: Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan menulis teks eksposisi siswa kelas V. Permasalahan ini disebabkan oleh beberapa faktor, antara lain kurangnya minat dan motivasi siswa dalam kegiatan menulis, terbatasnya kosakata yang dimiliki, kesulitan untuk mengembangkan kalimat, kurangnya media pembelajaran atau bahan ajar yang interaktif dan inovatif, serta strategi atau pemilihan pendekatan pembelajaran yang membosankan. Peneliti menggunakan metode R&D Sugiyono 10 tahapan yang diadaptasi 8 tahapan sampai uji coba pemakaian. Pendekatan penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan angket. Data dianalisis secara kuantitatif untuk mengukur keefektifan buku panduan dan kualitatif untuk menganalisis respons pengguna. Hasil penelitian adalah sebagai berikut: 1) peneliti berhasil mengembangkan buku panduan menulis teks eksposisi menggunakan pendekatan balanced literacy 2) buku panduan menulis teks eksposisi yang dikembangkan dinyatakan sangat layak dengan nilai presentase dari ahli media dan ahli materi sebesar 93%, 93,75% tanggapan dari guru, dan 95,31% tanggapan dari siswa, 3) uji efektivitas buku panduan menulis teks eksposisi yang dikembangkan memperoleh nilai signifikansi 0,000 > 0,005 sehingga terdapat perbedaan uji rata-rata yang signifikan antara pretest awalnya 55 dan posttest menjadi 81,5. Melalui uji N-Gain, skor diperoleh adalah 0,66 dengan presentase 66,08% termasuk dalam kriteria sedang. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa buku panduan menulis teks eksposisi menggunakan pendekatan balanced literacy berpengaruh positif terhadap peningkatan keterampilan menulis teks eksposisi siswa kelas V SDN Sidomulyo 04. This problem was caused by several factors, including students' lack of interest and motivation in writing activities, limited vocabulary, difficulty developing sentences, lack of learning media or teaching materials. which are interactive and innovative, as well as strategies or choosing boring learning approaches. Researchers used Sugiyono's 10-stage R&D method which was adapted to 8 stages until usage trials. The research approach uses quantitative and qualitative approaches. Data collection was carried out through observation, interview, and questionnaires. Data was analyzed quantitatively to measure the effectiveness of the guidebook and qualitatively to analyze user responses. The results of the research are as follows: 1) the researcher succeeded in developing a guidebook for writing exposition texts using a balanced literacy approach 2) the guidebook for writing exposition texts that were developed was declared very feasible with percentage scores from media experts and material experts of 93%, 93.75 % responses from teachers, and 95.31% responses from students, 3) testing the effectiveness of the guidebook for writing expository texts that were developed obtained a significance value of 0.000 > 0.005 so that there was a significant difference in the average test between the initial pretest was 55 and the posttest became 81.5. Through the N-Gain test, the score obtained was 0.66 with a percentage of 66.08% included in the medium criteria. It can be concluded that the guidebook for writing expository texts using the balanced literacy approach has a positive influence on improving the expository text writing skills of fifth-grade students at SDN Sidomulyo 04.Keywords: Balanced Literacy, Expository Text, Writing Guidebook, Writing Skills
