Abstract

The reality of the aging process in humans, the shortage of healthcare resources, and the increasing cost of medical care make Internet of Things (IoT)-based technologies need to be adapted to address these challenges in healthcare. IoT can lead to a wide range of medical applications, including remote health monitoring, fitness programs, chronic diseases, and elderly care. Another important potential application is sensitivity to home care and medication and by healthcare providers. This article aims to provide a description of the use of IoT in the health sector through the presentation of examples of IoT applied in the world of health from previous research. The research method used is literature search from various journals, books, and other e-resources. The result is an overview of the use of IoT in the health sector through the presentation of existing examples.

Abstract

The development of information technology demands the availability of reliable, efficient, and secure network infrastructure to support various activities, particularly in the process of developing information systems. One important component that cannot be ignored in technology development is system feasibility testing, where the use of Local Area Networks (LANs) plays an effective supporting tool. Despite their limited coverage, LANs offer several advantages, such as high data transfer speeds, the ability to share resources, and flexibility in system development. However, employees' lack of understanding regarding LAN utilization often presents a barrier to the implementation and testing of system feasibility. This community service activity is designed to improve employees' technological literacy through education on the use of LANs in information system testing. The methods applied include counseling, hands-on training, and interactive discussions to strengthen understanding of basic LAN concepts and their application in test simulations. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in participants' knowledge and skills, particularly in understanding the functions, benefits, and steps for implementing LANs in system feasibility testing. Participants were even able to apply the material learned to simple practices, thereby increasing their confidence in implementing it in the work environment. Thus, education related to the use of LAN not only has an impact on increasing technological literacy, but also contributes to the effectiveness of the implementation of information systems in various work sectors.

Abstract

Fire is a disaster that carries serious consequences, both in terms of human casualties and material losses. Such incidents can occur in various locations, including offices, public facilities, forests, and especially residential areas. Technological advances, particularly the Internet of Things (IoT), present an opportunity to develop automated early fire detection systems. The objective of this study is to design an IoT-based residential fire detection system. The tools utilized in this research include the Blynk application, the Wokwi platform, and various sensors. Based on the results of the design process, simulation, and testing of the IoT-based residential early fire detection system conducted using an ESP32 microcontroller and the Blynk application, it can be concluded that the system is capable of effectively performing early detection of potential fire hazards. Integration with the Blynk application allows this system to be monitored and controlled remotely via smartphone. Through the Blynk dashboard, users can view real-time sensor data, receive hazard notifications, and manually control devices such as windows and water pumps. This feature enhances the system's flexibility in providing early warnings and reduces the risk of fire hazards in residential environments.
