Abstract

This study aims to identify factors supporting inter-religious harmony in Indonesia by exploring best practices in maintaining tolerance and the role of local traditions and culture in fostering unity. Using a qualitative approach based on literature studies, this research reveals that government efforts, community participation, education, mass media, and local values such as mutual cooperation and consensus-building are key factors in preserving harmony. The government's religious moderation programs have successfully improved the Religious Harmony Index (IKUB) and strengthened societal tolerance. Moreover, interfaith dialogues and interfaith social activities significantly reduce prejudice and enhance mutual trust. However, challenges such as fanaticism, intolerance, and media misinformation remain threats that need to be addressed. This study concludes that synergy between the government, society, and local traditions can strengthen inter-religious harmony amidst diverse traditions and beliefs, positioning Indonesia as a global example of fostering diversity.
