Abstract

This quantitative study uses SmartPLS3 to analyze the main issues related to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on MICE (Meeting, Incentive, Convention, and Exhibition) business actors, as well as the role of the hybrid model in maintaining the sustainability of MICE activities in Indonesia. This study focuses on five representative cities that are the main targets of MICE activities according to the government's strategic plan, namely Jakarta, Bogor, Bali, Yogyakarta, and Malang. The COVID-19 pandemic that has hit various countries, including Indonesia, for more than a year, has brought major challenges. The tourism and MICE sectors are among the most affected, with many business actors forced to stop their operations and switch to alternative sectors such as culinary, agriculture, and plantations as a means of survival. However, the emergence of the hybrid model has become an important solution for the MICE sector. Some alternative solutions adopted during the pandemic include organizing virtual MICE events, virtual tourism, webinars, and meetings through platforms such as Google Meet and Zoom. Teleconferencing has also become an important tool to maintain engagement. These adaptations highlight the increasing reliance on advanced technology to ensure the sustainability of the MICE industry. The implementation of these activities requires high creativity and quality in order to run well. This change emphasizes the importance of continuous innovation and utilization of technology by MICE industry players to navigate the ever-evolving landscape.

Abstract

Automotive exhibitions such as GAIKINDO Jakarta Auto Week (GJAW) require various important elements for their success, one of which is the role of volunteers. Volunteers are individuals who voluntarily and selflessly provide their time, energy, and skills to support social, humanitarian, or organizational activities. In the context of GJAW, they play an important role in the smooth running of the event by helping to manage visitors, supporting various activities organized by the organizers and participants, and providing information about the products and promotions offered. They also play a role in organizing the exhibition location and helping visitors to get a better experience during the event. The efficient and organized role of volunteers is one of the factors that supports the smooth running of operations and increases visitor satisfaction in this large-scale event.

Abstract

This study aims to examine in depth the role of traditional cart taxis in supporting tourism accessibility in Ijen Crater. Cart taxis as a local community-based transportation mode have a significant contribution in addressing geographical challenges and limited formal infrastructure in natural tourism areas. Through a qualitative descriptive approach based on observation, documentation, and literature studies, it was found that traditional cart taxis not only function as a means of transportation, but also as social and economic agents that strengthen community involvement in the tourism industry. Traditional taxi activities also provide alternative livelihoods, create authentic interactions with tourists, and support the microeconomic ecosystem at the local level. However, traditional taxi drivers face serious challenges such as income uncertainty, unclear legal status, and minimal policy support. This study recommends the importance of integrating traditional cart taxis into an inclusive, participatory, and sustainable tourism management system.
