Abstract

Abstract. This study aimed to analyze the effect of physiology-based triage learning implementation on the accuracy of emergency patient management by professional nursing students. Using a quasi-experimental pre-test and post-test design without a control group, 38 nursing students from Universitas Famika participated in an intervention involving simulation cases grounded in physiological concepts. Data were collected through physiology comprehension tests and triage accuracy assessments. The results showed significant improvements in both physiology understanding scores (from 64.13 to 79.05) and triage accuracy scores (from 60.74 to 82.39), with p-values < 0.001. Post-intervention distribution indicated that most students shifted into the “accurate” and “highly accurate” triage categories. These findings suggest that integrating physiological biology into triage education effectively enhances students’ clinical reasoning and decision-making accuracy in emergency care situations.Key words: case-based learning, clinical accuracy, nursing education, physiology, physiology, triage

Abstract

Adolescent obesity is a global public health concern that affects both physical health and psychosocial well-being. Integrative interventions that combine physical training with psychosocial support, such as the Child Healthcare Model, are increasingly being used to address this issue holistically. This study aims to explore the effectiveness of physical training based on the Child Healthcare Model on weight loss and body image among obese adolescents through a scoping review guided by the PRISMA framework. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of physical exercise based on the Child Healthcare Model in reducing weight and improving body image in obese adolescents. It is hoped that the results of this study will provide a deeper nunderstanding of the role of structured physical exercise in supporting obese adolescents to achiev their ideal weight and form a more positive body image. A comprehensive literature search was conducted using PubMed, Scopus, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar databases for relevant studies published between 2019 and 2024. The search focused on studies involving adolescents aged 12–18 years with obesity who underwent physical training programs integrated with the Child Healthcare Model. Study selection followed the PRISMA-ScR flow diagram, and data were extracted and synthesized narratively. Out of 187 initial articles, 23 met the inclusion criteria. Most studies reported that physical training combined with the Child Healthcare Model—through nutritional education, psychological support, and family involvement—resulted in average weight loss of 3–5% over 12 weeks and significantly improved body image as measured by validated scales. Family and professional involvement were key factors in enhancing participant motivation and outcomes. Physical training based on the Child Healthcare Model is effective in reducing body weight and improving body image among adolescents with obesity. These findings support the implementation of holistic, family-centered interventions in adolescent obesity programs.

Abstract

Dental caries remains a common health problem among children in many countries, including Indonesia, with a fairly high incidence rate. According to data from Riskesdas (2018), 81.5% of children aged 3-4 years in Indonesia suffer from dental caries. Lack of knowledge and poor oral hygiene practices can increase the risk of dental health problems. Educational media in the form of animated videos are considered effective because they stimulate visual and auditory senses, thereby aiding children's understanding. This study aims to evaluate the effect of an animated video on proper toothbrushing techniques on students' knowledge levels at SDN Bontoramba 1 Makassar. It is hoped that the implementation of such media can enhance children's awareness and knowledge about oral and dental care, thereby positively impacting their quality of life. This study aims to determine children's level of knowledge about dental and oral health care before receiving education through animated videos, then analyze changes in knowledge after the education, and assess the effect of animated videos on children's motivation to maintain dental and oral health. The research used a quasi-experimental design with a pre-post test approach, This study involved 36 elementary school students, consisting of 16 girls and 20 boys. The respondents were assessed before watching the educational animation video and then reassessed after the educational intervention through the video. Based on the McNemar test analysis, 29 students who initially had poor knowledge improved to good after watching the animated educational videos, and no students showed a decline from good to poor. The statistical test results showed a significance value of p < 0.001, which is less than the criterion limit of 0.05 There was a significant difference between the results before and after the intervention. These findings indicate that the use of animated educational videos has a significant effect on improving students' knowledge of how to brush their teeth to maintain dental and oral health.

Abstract

The Bajo Tribe, known for its unique cultural heritage and lifestyle, presents an interesting case for examining the interplay between socioeconomic status and parenting practices among adolescent fathers. This demographic is increasingly relevant as adolescent fatherhood has implications for both child health outcomes and family dynamics. This review aims to synthesise existing literature on how socioeconomic factors influence adolescent fathers' parenting styles within the Bajo Tribe and the subsequent health outcomes for their children. Method: A systematic search was conducted using the PRISMA-SCR guidelines. Databases such as PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar were queried for peer-reviewed articles published within the last ten years that focus on socioeconomic status, adolescent fatherhood, and child health, particularly in indigenous communities. Inclusion criteria focused on qualitative and quantitative studies highlighting the Bajo Tribe. Preliminary findings suggest a significant correlation between lower socioeconomic status and adverse parenting practices among adolescent fathers, which in turn negatively affects child health outcomes. Key themes identified include limited access to resources, education levels, and community support systems that directly impact parenting efficacy. The findings highlight the urgent need for targeted interventions that address socioeconomic disparities to improve parenting practices among adolescent fathers in the Bajo Tribe, ultimately enhancing child health outcomes.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Introduction: Stunting remains a significant global public health challenge, affecting over 148 million children worldwide and resulting in long-term impairments in cognitive development, immunity, and future productivity. Although nutrition-specific interventions have been extensively implemented, the influence of parenting behaviors on recovery among children with a history of stunting has not been comprehensively synthesized. This scoping review examines how responsive parenting, grounded in evidence-based practice, affects nutritional outcomes and developmental recovery in children with a history of stunting. Methods: The review adhered to PRISMA-ScR guidelines and employed the Population–Concept–Context (PCC) framework. A systematic search was performed across PubMed, Scopus, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar for studies published between 2020 and 2025. Eligible articles, written in English or Indonesian, investigated responsive parenting, caregiving behaviors, or evidence-based parenting interventions related to nutritional outcomes. Twenty-seven studies met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed using narrative and thematic synthesis. Result: The results demonstrate that responsive parenting, characterized by sensitive, timely, and developmentally appropriate caregiving, is consistently associated with improved feeding practices, enhanced dietary adequacy, and superior indicators of child growth. Evidence-based parenting interventions that incorporate caregiver coaching, home-based monitoring, and parental empowerment are more effective than standard counseling approaches. Conclusion Furthermore, responsive caregiving contributed to better appetite regulation, reduced feeding difficulties, and increased psychosocial stimulation, collectively supporting catch-up growth in children affected by stunting. These findings underscore the need to integrate responsive parenting strategies into nutrition and stunting-reduction programs to enhance children's nutritional recovery and developmental outcomes

Abstract

Introduction: Hypertension remains a significant public health concern and is a leading risk factor for cardiovascular morbidity and mortality, especially in developing countries where uncontrolled blood pressure rates are elevated. Non- pharmacological interventions, such as dietary modification, are increasingly recognized as cost-effective strategies for hypertension management. Objective: This scoping review aims to map and synthesize the evidence on the role of dietary modification in hypertension management and control. The Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH) diet has shown substantial blood pressure–lowering effects in high-income countries; however, its effectiveness, feasibility, and implementation in developing countries have not been comprehensively reviewed. The objective of this scoping review is to identify, synthesize, and describe the available evidence on the effectiveness of the DASH diet in controlling stage 1–2 hypertension in developing countries. Methods: The review was conducted following the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) methodology and reported according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses extension for Scoping Reviews (PRISMA-ScR). A scoping literature search was undertaken across multiple electronic databases, including PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar. Studies assessing the DASH diet in relation to blood pressure outcomes, dietary adherence, or cardiometabolic indicators were included. Data were charted and synthesized descriptively based on study characteristics, populations, and key outcomes. Results: Adherence to the DASH diet was consistently linked to clinically significant reductions in systolic and diastolic blood pressure among individuals with stage 1–2 hypertension. Several studies also documented improved dietary adherence through community-based and culturally adapted interventions, particularly in low-resource settings. Positive effects on metabolic outcomes, including markers of obesity, metabolic syndrome, and inflammation, were observed across diverse population groups. Conclusion: The findings underscore the importance of dietary adherence, cultural adaptation, and community-based implementation to optimize effectiveness. These results support integrating the DASH dietary pattern into public health strategies and primary care services in resource- limited settings. Future research should prioritize long-term outcomes, culturally adapted DASH models, and large-scale implementation studies to enhance the evidence base and inform policy development.
