The objective of this research was to know and describe the correlation between studentsâ vocabulary mastery and their reading ability of narrative text at the second semester of the tenth class at SMA Negeri I Pringsewu in 2015/2016. This research, the writer used descriptive quantitative method. The population in this research was the students at the second semester of the tenth class at SMA Negeri I Pringsewu in 2015/2016 consisting of 289 students in 9 classes. The sample of this research was X2 consisted of 31 students. In determining the sample, the writer used cluster random sampling technique. In data collecting technique, the writer used objective test in the form of multiple choice test consisting of 40 items test with 5 options A, B, C, D and E. In analyzing the data, the writer used Product Moment formula. The result of this research showed that the result of calculation by using Product Moment formula got rxy was 0.76. After consulting, the writer knew that 0.76 was taken place between 0.600 â 0.800 that showed that the correlation was high. Furthermore, rxy was consulted with rtable with significant 5% with N=31 was 0.355 so rxy was higher than rtable (0.76 > 0.355). It means that the writer proved that there is a significant correlation between studentsâ vocabulary mastery and their reading ability of narrative text at the second semester of the tenth class at SMA Negeri I Pringsewu in 2015/2016.

Comprehension is the purpose of reading. Without it the reader wastes her time because she is not processing and remembering the text. It is vital to the education of students to implement strategies to develop reading comprehension skills. The students with literacy problems who do not receive help are in danger of becoming adults with limited employment opportunities and other life challenges. The purpose for reading and the type of text determine the specific knowledge, skills, and strategies that readers need to apply to achieve comprehension. Reading comprehension is thus much more than decoding. Reading comprehension result is when the reader knows which skills and strategies are appropriate for the type of text, and understand how to apply them to accomplish the reading purpose. The objective of this research is to know and describe the influence of using Short Story towards studentsâ ability in comprehending narrative text. This research was conducted by using Experimental method. The total population of this research was 150 students in 5 classes. The samples of this research were 2 classes. In taking the sample, the writer used cluster random sampling technique. In getting the data, the writer used multiple choices test with 40 item test. Based on data analysis and hypothesis, the writer found that the average score of studentsâ ability in comprehending narrative text who are taught by using Short Story was higher than that of those who are taught through conventional technique (= 71.58 >= 57.42). Therefore the calculation of ttest = 7.01 was higher than ttable with significance 5% = 1.67 and significance 1% =2.39. The writer then concludes that there is a significant influence of Short Story towards studentsâ ability in comprehending narrative text for the students at the second semester of the eighth class at SMP Negeri I Sumber Rejo Tanggamus in 2012/2013.

There are many technique which can be used in teaching and learning process an one of them is group work. Group work has the power to encourage the writing habit in a good a way. It enables students to work together on writing in different ways. In writing, the technique group work can helps the students to improve their knowledge and add their vocabulary from their mistakes in writing. The objectives of this research was to know the influence of group work towards studentsâ descriptive writing ability at the first semester of the tenth class at SMA YADIKA NATAR Lampung Selatan.To conduct this research, the writer used experimental method and the number of population was 75 students. The writer took two classes as the sample of this research. The writer used total sampling technique to take the sample of this research. To know the studentsâ ability, the writer gave writing test that was by asking the students to write a paragraph about descriptive text at least 150 words. To know the influence of group work towards studentsâ descriptive writing abilty.After analyzing the data by using T test, it was found that t ratio t table at significance level 1% and 5% = 2.66 and 1.99 and t ratio 3.97 it menas that t ratio t table, so there is positive influence of using group work towards studentsâ descriptive writing abilty at the second semseter of the tenth class at SMA YADIKA NATAR Lampung Selatan in 2014/2015. Therefore, the English teacher can use group work is suitable technique for teaching writing, especially in descriptive writing ability in the class.

The most important factor in writing is that students need to be personally involved in order to make the learning experience of lasting value. Encouraging studentsâ participation in the exercise, while at the same time refining and expanding writing skills, requires a certain pragmatic approach. The teacher should be clear on what skills he/she is trying to develop. The method of this research was experimental method. The population of this research was the students at the first semester of the seventh class at SMP Budi Karya Natar Lampung Selatan consisting of 78 students in 2 classes. The samples of this research were two classes, the first class as the experimental class and the second class as control class. In taking the sample, the writer used total sampling technique. In collecting the data, the writer used writing test. The writer provided some topics for the students, and they were asked to write a descriptive text based on the topic chosen. In analyzing the data, the writer used ttest formula. The result of this research showed that the writer proved that the studentsâ ability in writing descriptive that learn descriptive text was higher than the studentsâ who learn descriptive through conventional technique. It was proved by the average score of studentsâ ability in writing descriptive text in experimental class was higher than the average score of studentsâ ability in writing descriptive text in control class (69.95 > 54.67). Then, the calculation of ttest showed that the score of ttest was higher than ttable with significance level 5% and 1% (7.88>1.67>2.39). Therefore, the writer proved the hypothesis that there is a significant influence of Group Work towards studentsâ ability in writing descriptive text at the first semester of the seventh class at SMP Budi Karya Natar Lampung Selatan in 2014/2015.

Reading comprehension is an activity with a purpose. Writing is the way to communicate a message to a reader for a purpose. Through writing, one can explain or describe things as result people miles from us can get information by reading the written message.The method of this research was descriptive quantitative method. The population of this research was the students at the first semester of the eleventh class at MA Hidaayatul Islaamiyah Bandar Lampung consisting of 63 students in 2 classes. The samples of this research were 40 students. In taking the sample, the writer used stratified proportional random sampling technique.The result of calculation by using Product Moment formula showed that rxy was 0.63. It was proved that the correlation between studentsâ reading ability and their writing narrative ability was high. After that, the writer consulted the result of rxy above into significant level 5% with N=40 and got 0.312. By the other words, the writer concluded that there is a significant correlation between studentsâ reading ability and their writing narrative ability at the first semester of the eleventh class at MA Hidayatul Islaamiyah Bandar Lampung in 2014/2015.
