Abstract

The role of waqf and zakat in supporting sustainable development is discussed in this paper. The paper outlines the definition and types of zakat, as well as the challenges and opportunities in optimizing these two instruments for sustainable development. Zakat and waqf are important instruments in Islam that have significant social and economic impacts, as well as great potential to achieve inclusive development goals. This research uses qualitative methods. The purpose of this study is to find out how zakat and waqf help achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which include poverty alleviation, improved health, quality education, gender equality, and environmental sustainability. It is hoped that this analysis will find ways to make zakat and waqf more effective in supporting the development agenda in Indonesia. Peran wakaf dan zakat dalam mendukung pembangunan berkelanjutan dibahas dalam makalah ini. Makalah ini menguraikan definisi dan jenis zakat, serta tantangan dan peluang dalam optimalisasi kedua instrumen ini untuk pembangunan berkelanjutan. Zakat dan wakaf adalah instrumen penting dalam Islam yang memiliki dampak sosial dan ekonomi yang signifikan, serta potensi besar untuk mencapai tujuan pembangunan inklusif. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kualitatif. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana zakat dan wakaf membantu mencapai tujuan Pembangunan Berkelanjutan (SDGs), yang mencakup pengentasan kemiskinan, peningkatan kesehatan, pendidikan berkualitas, kesetaraan gender, dan keberlanjutan lingkungan. Diharapkan analisis ini akan menemukan cara untuk membuat zakat dan wakaf lebih efektif dalam mendukung agenda pembangunan di Indonesia

Abstract

Sharia tourism, which includes aspects of halal food, worship facilities, and governance is one of the strategic sectors in the development of the national sharia economy.This study aims to evaluate the extent to which the guidelines for organizing sharia-based tourism have been implemented in the Indonesian tourism industry, by referring to the DSN-MUI Fatwa Number 108/DSN-MUI/X/2016. Through a qualitative descriptive approach, data were obtained from literature studies, field observations, and interviews with tourism industry players. The results of the study indicate that the application of Islamic values ??in the tourism sector has made partial progress, but has not been fully integrated into the regulatory system and business practices. The main challenges include low sharia literacy, limited competent human resources, and minimal technical policy support. This study recommends strengthening derivative regulations, HR training, and digital-based promotional innovation as strategies for developing sustainable sharia tourism. This study contributes to the discourse on strengthening the sharia economy through an ethical and inclusive tourism sector.
